Recently I decided to make over my home office and buy a totally new set of furniture while selling or donating my old supplies. This lead me to search for the best quality products I could find for the cheapest prices. Even looking in office stores and online it wasn’t an easy process to collect all the items I wanted. Here are the things I ended up purchasing that you may want to consider when setting up or redoing your own home office, where to buy them, and how much they cost.
What I Have: Mainstays L-Shaped Desk $89.00
The first thing that needed to be replaced was my cramped desk. It was full end to end with supplies and stacks of papers that could barely fit the top. Because I needed more space I decided to go with an L shaped desk because of the greater storage capacity. This desk has room for even the most bulky computer setups and both under-desk and overhead storage. With the attractive wooden finish and matte black sides I decided I couldn’t do better for how low the price was.
What I Have: Leather Mid Back Office Chair $54.83
The second thing I needed to upgrade was to get a proper office chair. I had been using an uncomfortable kitchen chair since my previous chair had broken. This chair is comprised of soft leather and a sturdy frame that supports my weight with absolutely no problem. The telescoping height is adjustable to a wide range of preferences and is comfortable for any size person. The chair was very easy to assemble and only took me ten minutes to complete right out of the box. For less than sixty dollars this chair turned out to be a great investment.
What I Have: Verilux All Natural Spectrum Desk Lamp $59.95
While this may seem like a large amount to pay for a lamp it actually is cheaper than many other options currently on the market. I didn’t have a desk light and because of this my productivity suffered for a long time. The great thing about this lamp is the soft light that not only illuminates my desk but the room around it as well. The flicker reduction and high/low functions make this a very versatile lamp that will suit most users needs. My favorite thing about this type of lamp is that it takes up so little space and electricity, making it a very efficient light source.
What I Have: Kensington SmartSockets Surge Protector $14.29
If you have any important electronics or expensive devices you would like to protect you probably will want to get a surge protector. Last year during a thunderstorm I was devastated when a lightning storm fried my laptop and all my music and work along with it. I decided it was time to take a little more precaution and bought the SmartSockets protector. This compact outlet has the ability to provide power to six devices and has an auto shutoff feature when the electricity levels go above a that which would harm an electrical device. I’ve only had it shut off once but it paid for itself in one go by protecting my computer and other devices.
These products have all made my home office situation much more bearable and organized. If you’re looking to redo or put together your own home office I highly recommend looking into purchasing these relatively inexpensive products for a great home office under $250.
