Having a positive attitude in life can be what determines if you enjoy life or if you simply endure it. You see we have all been around someone who is constantly complaining about how bad their life is, pointing out the negative in everything. When we leave this person we tend to feel down and may start to look at our life in the same way that person looks at theirs. On the other hand, how do you feel when you leave the presence of someone who is extremely positive? You feel lighter, happier, you feel like you can accomplish anything. That is the effects of being positive.
How can you become more positive in your own life? The first thing you need to do is understand that you have a choice. You can chose to be the negative person who is never satisfied, or you can chose to be positive and look on the bright side of things. The choice is completely up to you and what you chose will affect your life every day.
The second thing you need to do in order to be more positive is to watch how you talk. Have you ever found yourself saying, “I just have a feeling it’s going to be a bad day”? What happens during the day after you have made such a statement? I would bet that you had a pretty bad day didn’t you? If you want to be positive you have to keep negative stuff from coming out of your mouth. When you think it may be a bad day, change your thoughts and tell yourself that you are going to have a great day.
Wake up with a good attitude. Many times we find ourselves trudging out of bed in the morning grumpy and ready to blow up on the first person to look at us funny. We jump in our cars and start yelling at those who are not driving up to our standards. When we get to work we have set the standard for the day. If you wake up and do something you are looking forward to you will start your day out with a positive attitude. This could be anything from using a special scented soap in your shower to taking a few minutes to get some exercise before you start your day. When you start your day on a positive note, the entire day will follow that lead.
Stop playing the victim and take responsibility for your choices. Stop saying things like, “Why do bad things always happen to me,” and, “I have the worst luck”. This kind of talk will only bring more negative thoughts into your mind. Instead say, “My luck is changing,” or, “Only good things will happen to me today”. If you make a mistake take responsibility for it and don’t try to blame it on Karma.
If you follow the above steps you will find that you will be more positive and better things will come your way. Being positive affects everything in your life from your health to your success. If you work hard and remind yourself to stay positive it will eventually come naturally and you will no longer need to remind yourself to do it.
