I am going to discuss the link between our subconscious and conscious thoughts with belief in time. I say belief in time because I am going to theorize that there actually is no time but only the present state and it is only our belief in time that the past exits. We cannot actually prove the past exists with 100% accuracy because the past can only exist due to our past thoughts about it and those are all due to our perceptions. Perception is incapable of truth and so it cannot actually exist in any type of absolution. Perception is based on the ability to define things only through comparing and contrasting, which by default makes all perception subjective. Does this mean I am going to deny you your trophy from your middle school softball team, well no, that would just be mean. But for the sake of following my theory-are you with me? Good!
The body and more specifically the human brain, is actually neutral and only exists in the present state. Well lady, this is going to be a pretty hard theory to prove because look at you…you got wrinkles! But I am going to tell you that it is actually my belief in time that gave me those wrinkles. Wrinkles did not actually give me wrinkles. (Insert your own Wrinkle in Time pun here.) Remember the cellular membrane (the cell brain), perception and thus behavior is exhibited by detecting what is in it. This is the present state or the environment of the membrane also detects our thoughts. Our thoughts are the only part of the cell that detects thoughts of time, other than the present state. Otherwise the cellular brain is only detecting from a point of its present state environment (how much oxygen, calcium etc., is in there). However, our thoughts give our brain behaviors that not only are responding to our pasts thoughts, but the body and brain, being neutral and functioning only in the present state, interprets that these past thoughts, as actually events that are happening now. Crazy huh?
For example: Let’s talk about sleeping! I struggle with sleeping and you know why? It is not because my body won’t let me sleep, it is my thoughts about the past and future won’t let me sleep! However, we can observe the body acting in its neutral and present state by responding to the absence or presence of light. In absence of light, the body releases melatonin and this produces the ability for your body to do its thing and go to bed. During the daylight the body is receiving serotonin from sunlight. Serotonin produces the feelings of happy and energy. This is why if you are feeling depressed the best thing you could do for yourself is, contrary to popular belief-not drink a bottle of Jack Daniels, but go outside and get your daily dose of sunlight. This is an example of how you can understand that your body-without your thoughts-is actually functioning in a present state.
Let’s talk about how the body uses your past thoughts and incorporates them into the present state. Well, if you are sitting here reading this, then you are experiencing your body, using your past thoughts, as a way to interpret your present state. This is your subconscious. Your subconscious because it is reflexive, is able to use your past thoughts in the present without consciously thinking about the past. I am not consciously sitting here thinking about how I am typing. I am just doing it. My subconscious past thoughts are being translated by my body into the present state.
Another way to see this is how we react to certain people or situations. Perhaps you have a fear of clowns because as a child you knew if they were to throw a pie in your face, you were going to suffocate and die! Right, Mom? We can dissect this statement in a few ways. First of all, all fear is born from the belief that you think you can be harmed and die. This goes back to the belief in death. If you want to no longer be afraid of anything, release your fears about death. Replace it with thoughts and beliefs that you can’t die. I am spirit. No meds required. You are cured. Done. Now, back to this subconscious fear of clowns…in my present awareness, I would know this fear is–stupid. However, that would not stop my body from behaving by its reflexive behavior–fear. Due to my past thoughts, my body reacts as if this fear I am having is actually happening–now.
Do you see how your past thoughts are wiring your subconscious to behave as if the past is actually happening-now-and how this can be troublesome? What are some of your past thoughts that are no longer serving you and being projected into your now? Our present state of awareness, our vision, is literally and figuratively obscured due to our past thoughts. Think about it…
