I had two previous businesses that had failed miserably, so I had a good idea of what I needed to do and not do when starting my new business. As a matter of fact, most people who succeeding in business, have failed numerous times. I had to believe that I was going to be successful even if nobody else felt that I would. Shortly after filing the articles of incorporation with the State of Florida, I began watching a series of motivational videos on a daily basis.
I also started going to the library on a regular basis reading books on marketing and everything about finance and accounting. I knew I needed to know all facets of the accounting industry for my Accounting Firm to be successful. I can not stress the importance of the motivational videos on YouTube, for they are very valuable for up-and-coming entrepreneurs. Listening to successful individuals such as, Brian Tracy, John Paul DeJoria, and Will Smith help lay the foundation to my success. I would listen to about two to three videos each morning before starting my day.
Learning how to build my own website, search engine optimization, and all the neat little tricks for online advertising was critical for me to have a successful business. After registering my domain name, I decided that I was going to learn how to build a website on the WordPress platform. It took me about a good four months doing it full time but I was determined. Now, I am able to update my own website. I post my own blogs and simultaneously post them to various social platforms. Every business needs to have an internet presence, and I knew it was important for me to learn the various venues to drive traffic to my website.
Fortunately, my husband is really good with Photoshop and he is a natural born designer. I had him design all of my flyers, brochures, business cards, and letter heads. I pursued all levels of marketing including online marketing, cold calling, fax marketing, emailing, and face to face marketing. I was persistent, and I did not give up. I did it everyday. One valuable tool that I learned is that marketing is a numbers game. The more people that know about a company, the more clients that company is likely to have.
