After being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and religiously taking the doctor-prescribed medicine, my hair is finally starting to return to its normal appearance. Before my diagnosis, I was trying every lotion and potion known to man in an effort to combat the dreaded hair loss and thinning hair. I started out with a full head of wavy hair that reached past my bra line. I had so much hair I didn’t know what to do with it. Looking back, this was a good thing, especially since I ended up losing half of the volume and thickness.
I would try everything from hair strengthening serums to volumizing shampoos to combat my hair loss, but nothing worked. After starting the levothyroxine my doctor prescribed, I continued to lose hair, but it slowly got less. This is when I regained hope and continued to search for products to reverse the damage that was done to my hair.
After browsing through the beauty supply store one day, I came across the L’Oreal Volume Filler product line. These products claimed that after using them, you would instantly feel as if you had twice as much hair. I had tried L’Oreal shampoos before and didn’t think much of them, but being as desperate as I was, I purchased a bottle of the shampoo and conditioner, and also bought the Volume Filler Elixir ampoules. Surprisingly, the products were pleasantly prices; the shampoo and conditioner were just under $5 and the ampoules cost just under $7) I couldn’t help but wonder whether the affordable price would be a reflection of the effectiveness of the products.
After eagerly washing my hair with the shampoo, I mixed the elixir serum with the conditioner according to the package instructions. I left it on for about five minutes (although only 2 minutes were required) and rinsed it off. I then allowed most of my hair to air-dry, before using a heat-protecting spray, a blow dryer and a round brush to add some shape. I put my hair in a bun and went to sleep, because it was late at night.
The next morning, when I let my hair down, I was in awe. My hair didn’t just feel thicker, it also looked thicker. The area where I could peek through my hair and see my scalp, was fully covered with a thick layer of strands. Needless to say, I have already gone through several bottles of Volume Filler products, and from all the pricey products I’ve used to combat my hypothyroid hair problems, this product actually does what it claims to do for a fraction of the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking to add a thickening volume boost to their hair. You’ll discover hair that you never even knew you had.
