If you are elbow deep into your spring cleaning, and just about done, why not start thinking about how you can add flowers? Flowers really make the entire spring look come alive. The key is to be creative about how and where to put the flowers, as well as what type of flowers to choose. Be creative and try to let your imagination run wild. You may need to move some things around for a bit until you find just the right spot.
Use the scent
If you pick the right flowers it can really add a fresh clean scent to your home. For example you can use small flower pots to place in the bathroom, and fill them with lavender or lemon plants. This adds a nice subtle smell to your home. Be sure to test out the smell of the plants before you decide to purchase them and add them to your home. I have found it best to walk around the store with the plants in the cart for a bit. This way you will be able to see if the scent is annoying, or not so bad. You will also want to make sure that no one in your home has any strong allergies to a particular plant.
Coordinate the colors
I love the idea of trying to coordinate the colors of the flowers with the home. Of course the natural green seems to go with anything, but adding small touches of color that matches your carpeting or your curtains can be a great touch. You could always choose a nice variety of flower pots with different colors and designs that match, even in the kitchen.
Welcome sign flower pot
Why not turn your flower pots into a nice sign that says “welcome”. You can use a bunch of small succulent type plants and put chalkboard paint on the outside of the plants. Then write the word welcome on them. You can also change the words on the plants with each different guest. Especially if you have visitors that speak a different language and you want to put the sign in their language. You can also use large flower pots to line the side of your hallway by the front door. Of course the size of the pot will depend a lot on the size of your hallway.
If you have a dinning room table or even a kitchen table, why not create some simple yet elegant centerpieces. They can really add a nice touch to any table especially during the spring time. It makes it feel like the outdoors is coming inside, which is great, when you have company. If you are going to make a centerpiece, try not to pick anything that has a really strong scent, since this may annoy some of your guests.
