Recently, I had a dream about a tall killer entering my home. Needless to say, this was more than a little disturbing. I wondered what could be the meaning of this frightening vision. Then this morning, as I was checking emails, I found a u tube about parasites, so I listened; very interested, because in my alternative healing work, parasites come up a lot.
The video turned out to be about sugar and the many kinds of health problems that occur from eating it, including candida, a type of fungus that feeds off sugar. Sugar is a very addictive substance and in the past my dreams have connected my love for it, even the natural kinds, with breast cancer. The video went on to explain how upsetting the blood sugar feeds candida overgrowth, cancer and parasites that may be lurking in the intestinal tract. (As an aside, I would like to add that while isolated sugar, like white table sugar, is an imbalanced food and can cause health problems with certain individuals, other kinds of sugar from whole foods, like fruit, can be handled by most people).
Following the thread back to the tall killer, my neighbor, a very tall young man, realized he had an overabundance of oak wood and offered to share it with me to burn in my stove, in exchange for baking him something sweet. For the first time in years I started baking cookies because I needed the long-burning wood to keep warm during the cold winter nights. I made the cookies with turbinado sugar and fresh creamery butter. They were crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Then I had a dream about raw sugar, and it seemed to be an even healthier choice, so even though it was very expensive, I used the raw sugar. The large nuggets of raw sugar added an even more compelling crunch to the cookies.
Before taking them over to him each time, I had to sample them to make sure they were good. One, then two, then three and more to make extra sure they were good. They were like that ad for chips, you can’t eat just one. I froze a roll of dough so I could bake them fresh for him (and me) whenever I wanted. They were always handy when I needed a quick fix. And they were made with healthy raw sugar, so what is the harm. Right? Wrong!
I sing HU, (sung like the man’s name Hugh in a long, drawn out sound), my love song for God each morning, to spiritualize my consciousness. Doing this helps me to tune into the messages that are coming to me throughout the day to help me on my journey through life and sometimes light up the meaning of a dream I’m trying to understand. Because I had done this, the meaning of the tall killer coming into my home popped into my head as I watched the video. It was the sugar in the cookies I’d made for my tall neighbor that was in my home and had the potential to harm me. As an added accent so that I wouldn’t miss the insight, I remembered a dream I’d had a few years ago after eating a chocolate candy wrapped in red foil. In the dream the red foil had a black widow spider drawn on it, a big sign that sugar is poison to me. In fact, it is a killer.
I didn’t write this article to say that sugar is bad for everyone, because it may not be. I wrote it more as a reminder to myself really, that if I want to live a healthy vibrant life, I will have to do it without sugar. Dreams have the potential to be divinely inspired, a rich source of life enhancing advice. I find taking the time to write them down allows me to begin to understand my own secret dream language. At times, it is seemingly miraculous, warning me in times of need or danger. My dreams have even saved my life.
