When it comes to wedding planning, it can be rather hard to decide what style is best for you. I’m here to demystify some of this spring’s hottest trends.
Lace, Damask, and Pearl
When one thinks of classic, vintage, traditional weddings, one often thinks of lace and pearls. Once upon a time, only the wealthiest could afford such luxury and opulence, but not any more. Lace gowns have become a top trend in the last few years and are still one of the most popular styles to have. So why not have that reflected in your wedding invitations? It can be as simple as a lace ribbon around the middle of the invitation, a border of tiny pearl beads, or even the paper itself trimmed and punched with lace details. One of the more dramatic designs I have seen was one that was a trifold design with lace ribbon down the outside of each of the two front folds, then it was tied closed with a satin ribbon with pearl details.
If you are not the traditional bride and want something more fun, you may like these. They are beautiful, whimsical, and so very spring-y. They bring to mind more informal weddings; like a nice shirt and khakis, running around barefoot type of wedding. And you can have any type of flower you want on there as well. You aren’t limited by location or season like you might be with your wedding bouquet. If your favorite flower is a calla lily, but your florist says you can’t get them, well, go put them on your stationary!
Not all floral themes are the same, and you are only limited by your imagination. You can still have a formal, traditional wedding while using floral stationary, all you have to do is change the flower, color, or design. Roses and carnations are more traditional, and a combination of red and white says classic and formal while daisies are more fun and laid back. The possibilities are endless.
Hint of Sparkle
Now, these are a huge hit this year. Everyone wants “bling” these days, and that extends to the stationary as well. Something as simple as a gold border or a touch of glitter to the letters can take your invitations to a whole new level. Or if you are really dramatic, tiny rhinestones strategically placed around the paper can really wow your invitees. And it is so versatile. You can use it in so many different ways and in any style of wedding. Keep it simple and traditional with just a hint of sparkle, or go all out for a royal celebration to rival red carpet parties.
Stripes & Chevrons
A major fashion trend recently is the chevron. You can see them everywhere these days. Most of the time they are seen in navy blue and bring to mind a nautical theme (another major trend). These designs are so fun and they are a very recent trend so they are incredibly popular for modern weddings.
The simple stripe is more classical than the chevron, but is still a great option for modern brides who maybe aren’t as fond of the way the chevron looks.
Easily the most popular trend, the best way to personalize your invitation is to include your colors. Pops of color here and there are eye catching and engaging, whether you choose to have your invitations printed in a specific color ink or even on colored paper. Some of the most simple designs are colorful borders or flowers. These style invitations scream fun and festive. So far the most popular color choices this year are peach, turquoise, coral, gray, and navy blue.
Spring is a wonderful season, and the top trends this year are going to make this season incredible. No matter which one you choose, you can’t go wrong.
