This year is going to be a great year for video games. Here’s a look at the hottest upcoming releases.
Destiny
Destiny is one of the most anticipated video games coming out in 2014. The creators of multi-billion dollar franchise Halo created Destiny, and it is going to be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 9. This game is unlike any other out as it plans to be “alive.” The developers are stressing that the events that will happen in the game will not always be controlled or planned by the developer.
The game itself features massively multiplayer online (MMO) elements mixed with an always-online first person shooter. For the setting, Destiny is set in the future in a post-apocalyptic setting. The game itself is considered to be of the science fiction genre. We might have seen the premise before, but what sets Destiny apart from other games is the play-style. It’s going to be really interesting to see how the game plays out. It’s going to be interesting to see if the developers can match the success that they had with Halo and to see some of the differences and similarities between the two games. Thief
The upcoming video game Thief is a reboot of the Thief video game series. The first installment came out in 1998 with sequels coming out in 2000 and 2004. These video games are of the stealth genre. It takes precision and careful planning to play this type of genre. It’s a game where you have to sneak around everyone, avoiding fights that would haven naturally took place in other video games. The setting for this specific Thief game that is coming out soon is of the Victorian and Steampunk variety.
If you aren’t familiar with the series but enjoyed Assassin’s Creed or even Metal Gear Solid you should enjoy Thief. This game is very choice-driven meaning the choices that you make will change the storyline and game-play. This means that this game has a lot of replay value and you can play it over and over again, making different choices each time to have different outcomes. It is set to be released on February 25 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. Check out the official trailer for Thief here via YouTube.
