Anxiety and panic attacks use to control my life. These types of attacks made me feel fearful, confused and sad at times. They also made me feel out of control. Medications that doctors prescribed me would be too strong for me and knock me out or make me feel drowsy. Some medications put me into a depressive state.
The only thing that truly helps relieve my anxiety and panic attacks by calming me down and relaxing my body and mind is with a warm bath made with my homemade herbal bath melts for anxiety and panic attack relief. The melts are packed full of calming essential oils and herbs that are wonderful for bringing the mind and body into a peaceful state.
Calming Natural Ingredients Needed
The calming natural ingredients needed are essential oils of sandalwood, jasmine, lavender, chamomile, vanilla bean, valerian root and ginger. You will also need shea butter, cocoa butter and dried herbs of lavender and chamomile. I am able to get these natural ingredients from my local herbal shop and I am sure you can too if you do not already have them on hand.
The Materials Needed
The materials I use to make the melts are silicone ice cube trays, small crock-pot and a small glass measuring cup with a spout for easy pouring. However, you can use silicone molds in the shape of stars, hearts, flowers or any design you would like. You want to make the calming melts to be special and happy appearing.
Creating the Calming Bath Products
To create the herbal melts I place a cup of shea butter and a cup of cocoa butter into the crock-pot along with two tablespoons of each dried herb and five drops of each essential oil. Then, I turn the crock-pot on low heat and melt and infuse the butters, herbs and essential oils together for about an hour, or until they are melted together. After, I take my measuring cup and scoop up some of the liquid oily herbal mixture and pour it into the silicone ice trays. Then, I take the silicone trays and place them into the refrigerator for an hour to harden and become a solid form with little dried herbs throughout them giving them a very calming appearance. Once the melts are made up, I like to store them in a pretty glass jar or basket in my bathroom near the bathtub so I can grab one and use one immediately when I am in distress and need immediate calming.
Making the Calming Bath
The best way to make the calming herbal bath is by filling up the bathtub with hot, yet comfortable water that is safe to touch. Then, toss in a bath melt and allow it to dissolve and release the calming essential oils and herbs along with the relaxing aroma they provide into the bathwater and into the air creating a peaceful atmosphere. As the melts fully dissolve, the herbs will float on the top of the water making the bath even more tranquil for you.
Relaxing the Bath
Once you bath is made, turn on some relaxing meditative music and get into the bath and relax for as long as you can. I like to relax until the anxiety and panic attacks have either gone away or at least calmed down. I make sure I take deep breaths during that bath and breathe the calming aromas in that are coming from it. I also just really allow myself to feel the warmth of the water on my body and that is super calming too.
After my bath, I sip on a cup of calming herbal tea such as chamomile and crawl into bed and relax. Sometimes I even take a nap and that is sometimes the best remedy for relieving stresses on the body and mind naturally. On really bad days or nights when my anxiety or panic attacks are super cranked up I massage a calming scented body oil into my skin such as sandalwood, jasmine or lavender right after I get out of my bath.
End Notes
Anxiety and panic attacks can become severe so it is always best to talk to a therapist or doctor if you begin to loose control and cannot function in every day life. For me, the herbal bath melts for relieving anxiety and panic attacks is what works the best. They may or may not be as effective for you, but there is only one way to find out and that is by trying them out.
