Green is a color that can easily blend with several home decor themes. Green is an earthly, natural color. It can compliment your floral, country, or modern decor. To add a stylish twist to any room you can choose to paint the ceiling green. Doing so not only adds a kick to your look, but also adds a feeling of height to the room.
Remove everything from the room you will be working in. This includes furniture, wall hangings, etc. The room should be completely empty. Lay plastic down on your floor to protect it. The plastic should cover the entire floor as paint can drip or splatter when and where you least expect it.
Purchase a shade of green that not only compliments your home decor, but also that you love. Green is available in many different shades, from mint to lime, to sage and olive. Pick up two gallons to be sure you have enough and be sure to also get a couple of rolls of painters tape.
Apply the painters tape on the trim, or top edge of the wall, all the way around the room. Once you have gone around the room once, do it one more time, placing a second row of painters tape underneath the first. This will protect your trim and wall from getting paint on them.
Pour some of the green paint into a paint tray. Use a roller and an extend-a-pole to apply the first coat. As you apply the first coat of paint work from the right to the left. Apply the paint to the main surface of the ceiling but do not get too close to the edges.
Use a small paint brush to apply the green paint to each side edge of the ceiling. Allow the ceiling to dry for 1 hour.
Apply a second coat of green paint to the main area of the ceiling using the roller and extend-a-pole. This time though, work in a back and forth motion as opposed to a left and right motion. Doing so will help to provide more even coverage. Once you have finished the main area go ahead and fill in the edges with the small paint paint brush. Allow the second coat to dry for 1 hour.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for a third and final coat. Allow the final coat 2 hours to dry then remove all of the painters tape and pick up the plastic from the floor. You can now bring the rooms furnishings back in. Enjoy the new look!
