Arcadia Missouri’s Hogs on the Mountain is the annual event that is spreading like wildfire from the town that is Missouri’s best kept secret. In a celebration that unites the two treasured past times of Missouri motorcycle riding and Missouri hog hunting in the perfect setting, lets take a closer look at Arcadia’s Hogs on the Mountain.
So, What is Hogs on the Mountain?
The beauty behind Hogs on the Mountain is the dual meaning. You may be interested in riding a Hog (motorcycle) to the top of the mountain, or hunting hogs, or both! Even better, all proceeds of Hogs on the Mountain go to the Salvation Army. Who doesn’t love being a biker, or a hunter, for a good cause.
For all Y’all Motorcycle Riders
The winding and relaxing scenic routes of Iron County have been a favorite of motorcycle riders for years, especially when it comes to the legendary Taum Sauk Mountain, which is the highest point in the state of Missouri. When you sign up for the Hogs on the Mountain ride, you sign up for the ride of your life. In the event, a parade of hundreds of bikes makes its way up the mountain for the ceremony of the “Blessing of the Bikes”. And on the final day of the weekend, once your bike has been blessed, how about joining in the finishing celebration at the Arcadia academy. Listen to a good ‘ole band play while sipping down some cold brew from the beer garden. Or maybe you would just rather check our all of the other riders’ bikes the whole time instead. If perhaps by nightfall you decide you aren’t ready to “jump back on the hog” just yet, you can crash out in one of the numerous rooms available at an affordable price, right on the Ursuline grounds where the celebration takes place.
For all Y’all Hog Hunters
It isn’t just the one of a kind motorcycle experience offered by Hogs on the Mountain that is to be appreciated here. How about the real hogs of the Mountain. There is an enormous population of feral hogs inhabiting the forest lands Iron County, and the Missouri Department of Conservation strongly encourages they be shot on site to prevent an ecological crisis. Not only do they decimate livestock, the carry diseases and are plain out nuisances. You don’t need a permit and it is legal to shoot as long as it isn’t turkey or deer season. Also, featured for meet and greet at the Hogs on the Mountain event is “Borris”, a male feral hog.
