The latest ‘Injustice; Gods Among Us’ challenge is upon us and your reward for completing all five levels is the John Stewart Green Lantern card. If that statement by itself didn’t get you excited or you’re wondering who John Stewart is you can get caught up at the DC Comics Database to see what all the fuss is about. If you know exactly what that statement means then read on, the news gets better.
The John Stewart Green Lantern Challenge
First you have to beat the challenge to obtain the new character card. Simple, right? The answer to that largely depends on how well you’ve invested in your collection of cards and how diligent you’ve been in upgrading and leveling up. I’ve noticed from past challenges and from past experience that these trials tend to expose the weaknesses in your teams. For example, the first level of the John Stewart challenge only allows you to use Bronze level characters. Most players focus on obtaining and developing the best of the best Gold level characters and tend to ignore the ‘lightweights’. Here is the complete requirements list for the John Stewart Green Lantern challenge levels:
- Challenge 1 – Only Bronze Level Characters Can Be Used
- Challenge 2 – Only Bronze or Silver Level Characters Can Be Used
- Challenge 3 – Nightwing Must Be on Your Team
- Challenge 4 – Only Regime Characters Can Be Used
- Challenge 5 – Doomsday Must Be On Your Team
After completing the challenge the first time on ‘standard’ mode, it resets and allows you to play it again in ‘expert’ mode. You can run through the challenge a third time in ‘nightmare’ mode and as you’ve probably already guessed, the challenges become more difficult each time it resets. Your reward for completing the additional challenges is a duplicate John Stewart Green Lantern card that you can immediately apply to the first to quickly advance your new character’s rank.
The John Stewart Green Lantern Character
John Stewart is a mid-tier character in terms of his initial damage rating of 825 and initial health rating of 1045. However, he does represent the first Gold level Green Lantern and compares favorably with the recent Elseworld Flash and Martian Manhunter additions to the game. Obviously these damage and health ratings only head north as you level up through battle experience. All ‘Injustice’ characters have three unique special attacks and John Stewart is no different. His ‘Turbine Smash’ delivers a smashing hit with a jade construct. The ‘Parallel Nature’ special attack delivers a melee style, high speed, and mortal series of blows and kicks upon his unlucky opponent. The ‘Beware My Power’ unblockable special attack allows John Stewart to unleash a multitude of savage hits and demonstrates the superiority of his Power Ring. John Stewart Green Lantern also has the ‘Emergency Barrier’ special ability that can occur once per match for each character on Green Lantern’s team. When any character on the team that John Stewart is a part of reaches a health level of 20% or below an emerald barrier appears for 4 seconds to shield them from harm.
I’ve only had John Stewart Green Lantern for a short time but he is already a valued and prominent member of my team roster. I play the iOS version of ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ on my iPhone5. You can learn more about the ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ game at the NetherRealm Studios and Warner Brothers websites.
