You really do have the best intentions for keeping your skin well taken care of and looking good. However, with everything we all do in life, even the simplest things, it is no wonder you may be finding different problems with your skin. From frown lines to cellulite to an accidental sunburn, there are many things, even accidental habits we all have, that can really wreak some major havoc on our skin. Here are some things we sometimes do out of habit that can mess with our skin, and things to try to avoid doing.
Avoid Making a Sad Face
Although we all get sad from time to time, some of us more often than others, this is one thing we should try to avoid as much as possible. Making a sad face too often can cause frown lines to appear on our face. Try to stay happier as much as you can to avoid the appearance of these frown lines. Some days it can be harder to be happy but doing whatever it takes can not only make you feel better but look better as well.
Don’t Forget Sunscreen
Sunscreen will not just prevent a sunburn but will also prevent your skin from aging too soon. We all age but why make it happen any sooner than it already does? It is one thing to be 50 years old but it is another thing to look 10 or even 20 years younger. Make sure to wear a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day. It doesn’t even have to be sunny outside for you to wear it and it doesn’t matter if you are just walking your dog either. Just make sure to put it on every day. You can also use a facial steamer to make your skin look years younger.
Avoid too Many Sweet Foods
Everyone loves sweet foods every once in a while and eating them every once in a while is alright. However, eating too much can actually speed up the aging process. The actual term for it is glycation. Because sugar attacks elastin and collagen, this can make your skin age faster. We need healthy collagen and elastin to keep our skin looking full as well as keeping a good elasticity. Because of this, and if you really want to keep your skin from aging too fast, eat less sugary foods and more fruits and vegetables.
Avoid Staying up All Night
Try to get at least 8 hours of good sleep every night. Those who stay up too late have problems falling asleep, and those who don’t sleep well will not be able to give their skin enough time to repair itself. This is because while we sleep, our skin takes this time to repair. Not getting enough good sleep can cause wrinkles, less skin elasticity, and uneven coloring of the skin. Try to go to sleep at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning.
If you smoke, quit now. If you haven’t started smoking, don’t start. Smoking is bad for your overall health and can really make you look older than you are. Not only can you end up with skin cancer but the act of smoking can just ruin the way your skin looks. When you take a drag of a cigarette, you end up pursing your lips which can cause lip wrinkles. When the smoke gets near your eyes you end up squinting them and this can cause crow’s feet around your eyes.
