Ms. Marvel is unique in Marvel: Avengers Alliance, because she is the only hero in the game that can have four different classes depending on the costume she is wearing. Even more impressive, she gains this variety with only two alternate costumes, one of which offers two classes completely different from her normal base class of blaster. With this many options it can be difficult to figure out how to best take advantage of her potential. The following guide to Ms. Marvel alternate costumes in Marvel: Avengers Alliance will give you all the information you need to pick the best choice for any given situation.
Captain Marvel – Scrapper / Tactician
Season 2, Chapter 4 Mastery – In order to unlock these two costumes, you need to get 100% mastery of chapter 4 of season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance. Mastery requires heroes that cost over 1000 command points. This means that a hero that you can potentially get for free after the tutorial has effectively one of the most expensive alternate uniforms in the game.
Special Ability: Unexploitable – This unique special ability makes Captain Marvel and the rest of her team immune to extra damage from exploit abilities. This is modestly useful in PvE, but really devastates in PvP where most high damage comes from either ongoing damage or exploitation.
Team-Ups – A surprisingly effective team up for Captain Marvel in PvP is the Horseman of Pestilence variance of Beast. Unexploitable basically means that there is no way for enemies to deal high damage to your team once you start applying negative status effects. Satana, Daimon Hellstrom, and Nico Minoru are also teammates that take advantage of Captain Marvel well, because they put negative status effects on themselves or on the team.
Overall – Captain Marvel’s special ability is something of a niche benefit. The greater advantage of Captain Marvel is the ability to use her as a scrapper or as a tactician. This gives her remarkable flexibility in PvE, allowing you to take advantage of her energy damage resistance, no matter what class of enemy is dealing energy damage. For this reason alone this is a very good alternate costume to get your hands on.
Original Ms. Marvel – Blaster, 30CP / Bruiser, 42CP
Special Ability: Seventh Sense – Seventh Sense is basically an improved version of the Master Assassin special ability that Elektra has. This special ability can potentially evade any attack, instead of just melee attacks and grants an extra turn, instead of just a counterattack, when it does. Even if it only activates once in a fight, it was worth the low amount of command points you spent to unlock this ability.
Team-Ups – Original Ms. Marvel’s Seventh Sense does not particularly encourage any specific teammates. You will want to avoid heroes who can outright give extra actions, like Cable or Uncanny Cyclops, because extra actions can only be gained once per turn, but beyond that, any team up options would be based on her normal power set, rather than her new ability.
Overall – Ms. Marvel is something of a specialist hero for dealing with energy based enemies and this alternate costume doesn’t change that fact meaningfully. Since that is the case, you should almost certainly buy her bruiser alternative rather than her blaster version of this outfit, though obviously the blaster version is just a pure upgrade if you do buy it.
