Chapter 2 of season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance is similar to chapter 1 of season 2, but some of the mechanics have been refined and you will need an almost entirely new set of heroes in order to master the chapter. Mastery of this chapter earns you the Uncanny Cyclops alternate outfits, and, if you don’t already own him, earns you Cyclops as well. Oddly, he is not required to complete this chapter, though Iron Fist and Daredevil, the characters that you can earn alternate costumes for in chapter 1 and 3 respectively, are required. The following guide will help you complete all the required tasks and battles to earn the Uncanny Cyclops alternate costume.
Deployments – You will need to complete 30 deployments across all six missions of chapter 2. Every single mission has exactly five deployments and the majority of these deployments are for two or more battles. The best way to complete them is to start a deployment as soon as it appears and to engage in incursions or heroic battles while heroes are deployed. You will need to own Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Human Torch, Black Panther, Fantomex, Gambit, Thing, Wolverine, Thundra, Hawkeye, Black Cat, Nightcrawler, Iron Man, Tigra, and Scarlet Witch to complete all the deployments. The final hero is not actually deployed but is required to unlock the sixth mission which has deployments in it.
Incursions – Incursions, originally introduced in chapter 1, season 2 of Marvel: Avengers Alliance, continue to appear in chapter 2. Each mission has one incursion except for mission 6 which has two. If you want to win an incursion easily, be prepared to use distress calls or items. Incursions will not progress you towards completing the mission, but they will progress a deployment, are required to master the chapter, and can potentially earn you rare equipment previously only available in PvP.
Heroic Battles – Chapter 2 heroic battles are pretty much more complicated than heroic battles from chapter 1. They also require more expensive heroes, in general, though there is a slightly higher likelihood that you will already own some of those heroes, due to popularity. In order to complete all six heroic battles, you will need Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Spider-Man, Thor, Captain America, Wolverine, Iron Man, Daredevil, and Dr. Strange. For most of these battles, you will need all of your heroes to be at least level 6 to have a chance at winning, though alternate uniforms can also make a big difference.
Challenge Mode – The reward from challenge mode in chapter 2 is the Golden Glazed Ceramic Knife. Just like in chapter 1, you obtain this reward when you complete all six missions in challenge mode. You need to complete a mission in normal mode before you can even attempt challenge mode. Challenge mode will always be 10 levels higher than your hero. The best way to complete this mode is to fight mini-bosses as they appear, do all deploys, and primarily utilize level 13 heroes. Don’t worry about experience. Just finish the mission as quickly as possible.
Epic Bosses – There are two epic bosses in this chapter, one in mission 4 and one in mission 6. You need to complete every threat and deployment in the specific mission to reveal the epic boss, but you do not need to complete incursions or heroic battles. To face Red Skull in mission 4, you will need Wolverine, Thing, and Thundra. To face Sugar Man in mission 6, you will need Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Nightcrawler, and Tigra. Red Skull is particularly difficult because you are forced to team up with the underpowered Hank Pym, so it is best to face him in normal mode and bring along a level 13 infiltrator hero as your second ally.
Tasks – In addition to the above, there are 36 tasks you need to complete to get the Marvel: Avengers Alliance Uncanny Cyclops suit. For every four tasks you complete you will unlock the next mission and when you complete the 21st task you will unlock the second chapter. Of these 36 tasks, 18 are sequential and 18 others unlock when after you complete every third sequential mission. You can complete any of the currently available tasks in any order and they count towards progress towards the various completion goals. In order to complete every task you will need to own Thundra, Thing, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Tigra, and Nightcrawler. These required heroes will either be used to unlock epic bosses or fight heroic battles.
