The Call of the Wild Covert Op for Marvel: Avengers Alliance was released in June of 2014. The Covert Op has a total of eight tasks, which, if completed, allow you to purchase the hero Shanna with command points. There is no other way to acquire Shanna in the game. While the eight tasks are actually rather easy, you need to own eight other heroes to acquire her, all but two of which are exceptionally expensive in terms of command points. You can spend gold to bypass the two tasks that require these heroes, if you are willing to spend 30 gold, but that does not actually make Shanna any cheaper to purchase once she is unlocked. The following guide will help you acquire Shanna as efficiently as possible.
Task 1 – For the first task, you need to acquire a single Test Serum Conduit. This item drops only in Season 2 battles, though it drops quite commonly. In fact, you are almost assured to get one in any medium or higher difficulty threat and will even occasionally get one in a low difficulty task.
Task 7 – Oddly, Task 7 becomes available as soon as you complete Task 1 and you can complete this task out of order. It is exactly like Task 1, except that you need to collect 30 more Test Serum Conduits. The one you collected for Task 1 doesn’t count towards this. Since every other task in this special operation involves battles in Season 2, you will just naturally complete this task and don’t have to put any special effort towards it.
Task 2 – Task 2 requires you to defeat the boss of Mission 4 of Chapter 5 of Season 2 Green Goblin. There are multiple other missions where you can battle Green Goblin in this game, but no other Green Goblin battle counts towards this task. If you haven’t unlocked this mission, or even worse, this chapter, you will need to rush to this point or spend 15 gold to bypass this task. The easiest way to complete this task is to play on normal difficulty and fight all of the mini-bosses separately. Green Goblin is quite easy when you fight him alone.
Task 3 – This task requires you to own Ms. Marvel, Wasp, Black Panther, and Hank Pym. This is because you need to fight the epic boss Venom in Mission 6 of Chapter 4 of Season 2. Ms. Marvel is required to unlock the mission and the other three heroes are needed for deployments during the mission. To actually be able to fight the epic boss, you need to complete every threat and every deployment in the mission. Venom is a tough fight, even if you bring blasters to fight him. Equip fire and sonic weapons on your hero and bring another fire hero as well. If you don’t own that set of heroes and don’t want to farm command points to purchase them, you can spend 15 gold to bypass this task.
Task 4 – This is a quite easy task. You need to defeat any five White Gorillas. The game recommends Mission 2 of Chapter 5 of Season 2, but any mission with White Gorillas will work. You are better off fighting them in Mission 6 of Chapter 5 of Season 2, because this is the mission that is needed to complete your next task.
Task 5 – To complete this task, you need to defeat the epic boss Ape-Man in Mission 6 of Chapter 6 of Season 2. This mission requires Hercules to unlock and you will need to own Hulk, Havok, and Punisher in order to complete all the deployments in this mission. This is an even more expensive set of heroes than task 3 required. Once again you can spend 15 gold to skip this if you don’t have and can’t get the requisite set of heroes. Ape-Man is actually a rather brutal epic boss fight, because it is a three wave battle with a large mix of class types. This is a very useful battle to bring a hero like Cyclops who can put disadvantage on enemies, especially the two blasters in the first wave who will seriously hurt Hercules. Also, be prepared to use healing items freely and don’t forget your distress call. This should help swing the battle in your favor.
Task 6 – This is a difficult task because you need to complete the Train with Shanna I task in the Simulator. The battle is your agent and Shanna fighting against a scrapper and a tactician. The scrapper protects the tactician from single target attacks. You can get around this either by attacking the scrapper with Spear Vault in order to apply cornered to him or by using the stealthy power Off the Vine on the tactician. The second strategy is best if your agent has an attack that can apply winded to the scrapper. Otherwise just use Spear Vault on the scrapper to keep him in check. Making your agent a bruiser for this battle makes it a rather easy battle.
Task 8 – The final task requires you to complete the Train with Shanna II task in the Simulator. This is a battle with your agent and Shanna against Hammerhead. If your agent is a bruiser and has a protection item, this is a very easy battle. Simply have Shanna hit him with Spear Vault every turn and just have your agent attack with whatever your best single target weapon is. Even if you don’t have a protection item, your agent in a bruiser uniform basically can’t lose this battle, even if Shanna is defeated. Just remember that you can’t use items in the simulator, so you might want to equip a piece of healing gear on your agent. Once you complete this task, you will get two rewards. First, you get five command points as a reward for completing both tasks in the Simulator. Second, you have permanently unlocked the ability to buy Shanna for 90 command points in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.
