When building a team in Marvel: Avengers Alliance, you often want to include heroes that can apply specific status effects. In addition to normal benefit from these status effects, there are some heroes that can exploit status effects to deal extra damage with attacks. The exploit attrition ability deals extra damage to characters that have any ongoing damage effects on them. This ability is an excellent way to compound the damage dealt by these status effects. It also makes a power more valuable after another power has become less valuable, since attrition effects rarely stack. The following guide to the best exploit attrition heroes in Marvel: Avengers Alliance will help you choose the character that will best help your team.
Agent Venom – Agent Venom has two major advantages. First, he is the only bruiser in the game that can exploit attrition. When facing a scrapper, this can be a massive advantage. Second, he is the only hero in the game that has an area attack that exploits attrition. He isn’t particularly good at putting attrition on enemies, so you generally have to team him with a hero that is, but once it is in place, he has one of the hardest hitting area attacks in the game. You must be very wary when using Agent Venom because he has a chance of attacking the wrong target while out of control, but this isn’t a problem when using an area attack like Along Came a Venom.
Sabretooth – Sabretooth is a rare character indeed, because he has an attack that not only exploits attrition, but actually inflicts attrition at the same time. Brutal Slash places two stacks of bleeding on any enemy it hits. Unfortunately, bleeding is the only form of attrition that Sabretooth can inflict, but that downside can be mitigated by teaming him with the right allies. Since bleeding can stack up to three times, this attack actually gets more powerful each time you use it against the same target.
Doctor Voodoo – Doctor Voodoo is easily one of the best heroes in the game at placing attrition effects. He can place three unique effects and two of them he can place without any chance of a counterattack using a single action. It is the speed at which he applies ongoing damage effects that makes his ability to exploit attrition so valuable. Additionally, his exploitation attack, Staff of Legba, also heals all allies when used and can be used every round. This means that he is the rare hero that actually does more than deal damage with an exploitation attack. Team him with Sabretooth and you have a lethal combination that practically can’t die.
Horseman of Pestilence – Horseman of Pestilence exploits attrition with his Jekyll and Hyde attack. Like almost every other exploitation attack in the game, Jekyll and Hyde only targets one enemy. The main reason this is such a powerful exploitation attack is that it is impossible for enemies to remove negative status effects while Pestilence is alive. Thus, as long as you can place the status effects in the first place, you are practically assured they will still be there when you attack with Jekyll and Hyde. Additionally, Pestilence is one of the best heroes in the game at inflicting attrition effects, so the attack is almost certain to deal very high damage when you do use it.
