The Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance has dozens of positive status effects, colloquially called buffs. Almost every hero in the game can apply at least one, and there are some heroes that can inflict almost every buff in the game. Buffs range in value from almost meaningless, like the well fed buff, to absolutely amazing. Combining the best buffs can make any battle incredibly easy. The following guide reveals the best buffs in Marvel: Avengers Alliance and suggests the best heroes for applying them.
Skittering Darkness – There are a lot of evasion buffs in the game. Pretty much every one grants a 50% chance to completely evade an attack. Skittering Darkness is special because it also adds the stealthy special ability to all attacks of the affected character. Furthermore, this buff lasts for a full three rounds, which is one round longer than most of the other evasion buffs last. Finally, while many of the evasion buffs only dodge certain types of attacks, like melee attacks or area attacks, Skittering Darkness applies equally to all attacks. Only Daimon Hellstrom can apply this impressive buff, though he can apply it to his entire team as a single action.
Deathwatch – Deathwatch is a unique buff that Valkyrie can apply. Part of what makes it unique is that it is the perfect resurrection. If a hero that is affected by this buff is reduced to 0 health, the hero automatically expends the buff to be restored to 25% health. If the duration on the buff runs out, instead the hero heals 25% of his or her health. Thus, it is a resurrection that doesn’t fail and always provides healing regardless of whether it is needed.
Potential Unleashed – Emma Frost’s unique buff is one of the best stat boosting buffs in the game. It grants a better increase to stats than strengthened, focused, fortified, and agile combined, though it only lasts for a turn, or two when applied to Emma Frost. In addition to boosting all stats enormously, this status effect also removes all negative status effects on the target, effectively doubling the benefits when used on an ally that has reduced stats from debuffs.
Super Heroic – This buff is arguably the best buff in the game, but also the most difficult to apply. It boosts stats better than potential unleashed and additionally adds to the damage dealt and reduces the damage taken by the target. It also lasts for a few rounds, rather than just one round. Unfortunately, there are only two ways to get this buff. Either Deadpool can get it by using Happy to See You after randomly gaining the level 16 ranger buff or Scarlet Witch can randomly apply it using Probability Field. Since both require a lot of luck, the best you can do is use both heroes and hope.
The Eternal Vigilant – Heimdall’s signature buff works very similar to the cower debuff, except that, unlike cower, it can’t be removed in any way. Also, while some enemies are immune to cower, none are immune to the eternal vigilant. Effectively, this is an evasion power for you entire team that can’t be ignored by the standard effects that ignore evasion.
