You are probably wondering what the Paleo diet is, well it’s basically eating how are distant ancestors ate. Eating fish, meat, seeds, leafy greens. Pretty much anything that can be hunted or gathered.
I began the Paleo diet when a close friend of mine mentioned it to me. I had never heard of it, so I did a little research. A lot of what they said made sense, so I figured I’d give it a shot. The diet worked for me really well. I ate mostly fish, eggs, a lot of spinach, asparagus, and fruits like bananas. The diet was great, but was hellish for the first month. No longer could I go out to eat with my friends or taste the mouthwatering burgers from McDonald’s. Every time I saw a commercial, my mouth would just drip with saliva and craving for the overly salted French fries and grease-soaked burgers. I stuck with the diet though and refrained from going out and grabbing a burger. It was full steam ahead for me. I continued this for six months and noticed an extravagant change in my body (for the better), but I did more research and it wasn’t necessarily the new foods I was eating, but it was the unhealthy foods that I had cut out.
Ending The Diet
This is when I decided I’d quit the Paleo diet and do my own diet. I noticed I wasn’t getting much calcium since I cut dairy products, I began eating Greek yogurt (unsugared) and began eating none processed bread from time to time. I realized you can lose weight and get the body you desire without going on drastic diets such as the Paleo diet. Everything has to be eaten in moderation. I noticed my gain in weight was due to eating more than I should have been and not exercising enough to burn it off. Everything is relevant to how much you burn. What you eat should be extracted as energy. The common mistake for people is they think they need to go on crazy diets to see results and it’s simply not the case. I think our mind plays tricks on us, I know mine did. I will say the Paleo diet did help me kick eating the junk food, it’s an addiction really. I was craving salt, grease, and refined sugar. So, the Paleo diet wasn’t all that bad after all, but I do think there’s better ways to diet than using the Paleo diet.
