Getting Some Relief from a Yeast Infection

Yeast infection can start to drive you crazy after a while due to the constant itching that comes along with it. In order to get relief from yeast infection itching, a number of creams, lotions and medicines can be taken. These prescribed drugs not only provide temporary relief from itching but also cures the infection. But some home remedies can be particularly helpful in curing the itching. Plain yogurt is a very good remedy for instant relief. Itching is cured either by eating it or by applying it on the infected area. It is naturally capable of fighting yeast and kills the fungi.

Another effective treatment for getting relief from yeast infection itching is the use of garlic. Its anti fungal and antibacterial qualities make it one of the biggest enemies of yeast. A garlic clove can either be applied to the infected area or swallowed with some water. Even garlic tablets are available in the market and these can help the purpose as well. Other ingredients which can offer relief from the itching consist of apple cider vinegar and oil of oregano. But the apple cider vinegar should never be applied directly on the infected area. This can lead to burning. So, about a cup of vinegar can be added to the bathwater before taking a bath. White vinegar should never be used for this purpose.

Oil of oregano is very effecting in relieving the itching associated with yeast infection. It can be consumed on a daily basis according to the directions given. But the oil must contain high carvacrol content, which is an active ingredient for killing the yeast and curing the infection. Aloe vera gels and juices can also be applied to the infected area for getting instant relief. Various types of medicated anti-itch creams are also very useful in providing relief from yeast infection itching. Chemical substances like gentian violet can also be applied on the itching surface. Boric acid capsules are also used for curing the yeast infection and it offers relief from itching.

Another chemical substance, named potassium sorbate, is known to be an effective fungicide. It can be mixed with water and applied to the infected areas for providing relief from yeast infection itching. A paste can be prepared by mixing slippery elm powder with a little water. This can be applied whenever there is excessive itching and provides temporary relief. Apart from these home remedies, there are a number of sprays and gels which can be directly applied to the infected area. However, it is not only essential to get rid of the itching, it is also important to completely cure the infection. Since the infection has a recurring tendency, medicines as well as home remedies should be continued as long as the symptoms persist.
