Do you have a fun tradition of decorating eggs every Easter? You might use the traditional method of dyeing eggs, but there are many different ways of decorating Easter eggs these days! From using tape and paint to adding googly eyes on your eggs, the options are endless for egg-decorating this Easter!
Tape and Paint
Materials needed: eggs, painter’s tape, paint, scissors, a small paintbrush, and a pencil
For this style of egg decorating, you can either buy pre-cut tape that is already made into shapes such as jagged or zigzagged, or you can cut your own shapes out of a strong tape, such as painter’s tape. (You will want a tape that will stay put when you are painting around the egg, but also a tape that is easy to pull off)
1.) Put the tape onto the eggs in whatever shape you wish to create.
2.) Paint around the tape, use different colors to give it life.
3.) Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape.
When the product is finished, you should have a pretty design! If you wish to paint the part that was taped off, you can also do that. Just be careful to use a tiny paintbrush, and to stay inside the lines, so your colors don’t bleed into each other! You can also make polka dots on your eggs by dipping the end of a pencil eraser into paint, and pressing it onto the egg.
Old Fashioned Dye (PAAS)
This form of decorating eggs is the most traditional, and is still as popular today as it was many years ago.
You can buy a PAAS egg-decorating kit from most any grocery store or pharmacy. The kits come with several different colors of dye for the eggs, and you can either use one color, or dip your eggs in multiple colors! Many kits also come with a wax crayon, which you can use to draw on parts of the egg that you wan to protect from the dye to make a design with. PAAS sells many different kinds of Easter egg decorating kits! For more information on what types they have, visit: http://www.paaseastereggs.com
This is probably the easiest type of egg decorating, but also one of the cutest!
Materials needed: eggs, googly eyes, and permanent marker
1.) Simply get some sticky googly eyes, (they come in all different shapes and sizes at the craft stores) and stick them onto your egg to give them life!
2.) Next, use a permanent marker and make a face with the googly eyes by adding eyebrows, a nose, a mouth, ears, and a tongue!
For a cute Easter egg theme, why not decorate your eggs as Easter animals, such as bunnies or chicks?
Materials needed: googly eyes, feathers, crayons, permanent markers, cotton balls, craft pom poms, ribbons, glue, scissors, tape, etc.
Simply use each of the craft products above for making your Easter egg animal! For a bunny, you can glue googly eyes to the top of the egg, then glue a cotton ball to the bottom of the egg for the tail. For a chick, add feathers and googly eyes. You can decorate the rest of the animal’s body with a permanent marker to add details.
