Fun Ideas for Children’s Birthday Party
Anyone that has ever had to plan a child’s birthday party knows that it has to be creative, fun and hands on for their child to come away feeling it was so much fun. It will be the backdrop of many years of reminiscing.
Ceramic Painting Party
Many areas have a pottery or ceramic business that caters to people wanting to learn how to make various objects. These types of establishments not only have classes for adults but many of them will have party packages for children’s group. These packages usually include an assortment of unglazed clay pieces that each child can choose between to paint with glaze. There is usually a nice array of glaze colors available to paint the pieces. I suggest children bring an old shirt to cover their clothes. Have extra plastic grocery bags to easily modify with a couple of cut holes for arms and head to wear as a smock. If there is a favorite movie soundtrack or children’s music play list, you should bring it to play during the fun time. Always take pictures of the kids interacting and enjoying themselves creating their ceramic piece. The items, the kids create, will need to dry and be ‘fired’ or baked in a special ceramic high heat oven. Once the items are finished, you can pick all the items up and deliver.
Plan to have cupcakes, light snack and drink to serve once the kids are done with their piece. Allow clean up and opening presents time. You can ask the ceramic store if you can do this activity during your time there. Be sure to have a small party favor for the child, especially since she may not be able to bring their creation home that day.
Dress up Theme Party
There are a couple of businesses in our area that have party packages that involve dressing up in various costumes or clothing, staged play rooms and serve refreshments that match the theme of the dress up party. In our case, the kids could dress as knights, princesses, super heroes, famous musicians or many other characters. One playroom had a play yard with a large cut out created to be a castle. Another playroom had a stage, lights, and microphones for performing. Another room had a mural of a night sky with celestial objects painted to give the feel of being in outer space. A snack is included in another room, which included tea (juice), food treat and a small token souvenir to bring home.
These special themed birthday parties are fun and memorable. The added benefit of having a birthday party outside of your home is coming home to a clean, peaceful home with a happy birthday child.
