Working out and exercising can be a boring routine, but with a little bit of imagination you can come up with some great exercise ideas so you can have some fun on your way to a healthier you.
Here are some ideas to help you get fit while having fun at the same time. Staying fit does not have to be something you dread, with a little imagination you can create all kinds of ways to make getting fit fun.
Hopscotch – Generally thought of as a child’s game, hopscotch can be enjoyed as an adult and a great choice to include in your fitness routine. What better way to get a workout while having fun at the same time. All you need is some sidewalk chalk and something to use as your marker that you toss into your square. It may sound funny or easy, but give it a try and you might be surprised at the workout you get.
Volleyball in the pool – Summertime is here and there will be extremely hot days where exercising is the last thing on your list. One way you can move it to the top of your list is by getting your exercise in the swimming pool. You can purchase a volley-ball kit that is designed to work in swimming pools and most are reasonably priced, and whatever the cost it is a small price to pay for your health and fitness compared to a treadmill or exercise bike. Have some family fun jumping around, swinging your arms, reaching, twisting and other moves you put your body through to play that ball.
Playing Catch – Spending a day at the park can be a great way to get in some exercise, you’re going to need it after eating all the goodies that are usually brought along. Bring along a football, frisbee or baseball and gloves and have some fun throwing the ball around or tossing the frisbee. You will soon find yourself winded after a few minutes of running, reaching, throwing and jumping around while at the same time you are getting great fitness benefits from your day of fun in the sun.
Batmitton – I always looked forward to Easter time because it meant a trip to Grandma’s house where we would not only enjoy great food but fun games as a family filled with lots of laughter and love. She would always have a badminton net set up for us to play. With a racket in hand and the birdie to hit back and forth, this is a great way to get in some exercise. There is definitely an upper body being worked out and some Cardio as you jump and run around chasing the birdie.
Horseshoes – This is another game we always played at Grandma’s at Easter and I would look forward to playing against my Uncle Paul so I could beat him at the game. I don’t remember if that happened at all but it sure was fun trying and great upper body exercise at the same time.
