Fourth of July is a holiday that is celebrated in a big way here in the Willamette Valley, and no one can celebrate with quite as much gusto and gratitude, as those of us here in the Valley.
Many towns and communities in the Willamette Valley have celebrations commemorating the Fourth of July with pride. Listed here are a few of these communities; listed because of their popularity with the local residents, and the ease in which to get to them. They are all located within a few miles of I-5.
Many residents in the area spend a good part of their day here in the park, waiting for the festivities to begin. It’s a time for good quality family time while awaiting some of the best fireworks imaginable. You can begin your day with a delicious pancake breakfast, and go from there.
This is an all – day family fun event; starting at 6:00 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and the fun continues through – out the day with a flag raising ceremony, museum open – house, and many classic cars and tractors on display. The library will have a book sale, and the kids are sure to enjoy the parade at 11:00 a.m. There will be many vendors, and no Fourth of July would be complete without a barbeque. Fireworks at dusk will end a perfectly awesome holiday
Cheadle Lake Park
This event will start in the evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. There will be kids games and food vendors; also a trail walk for the entire family to enjoy. At dusk the fireworks will commence which promises to be a spectacular experience.
Springfield – Light of Liberty Celebration
The fun begins at 4:00 p.m. when the gates are opened. There will be live music ranging from reggae to oldies. There will be food vendors and many things for the kids to enjoy, beginning with a magic show. If you’ve never seen fireworks synchronized with music this show is really a must. Advance tickets can be bought for $5, and at the gate $7. There will be a Park and Ride shuttle service from some of the parking areas so make sure and check website out for more details.
As you see, the Willamette Valley can offer all day entertainment, or part – day, so whatever fits in what you have planned for your family on this Fourth of July, be sure to stop by. You will be glad you did.
