Milwaukee is known for its amazing food, but there are lots of restaurants that close down just as your night is getting started. For the night owls among us, here are four late night Milwaukee eateries that not only serve great food, but do it when so many other restaurants are closed.
Elsa’s on the Park (833 N. Jefferson St., Milwaukee; (414) 765-0615. Website)
Serving food until 1am every night, serving drinks until 2am (Sunday-Thursday) or 2:30am (Friday/Saturday)
Elsa’s is located on Cathedral Square in the heart of downtown, and serves great food until late, perfect for people bar-hopping in Milwaukee’s vibrant center. This place is known for its cocktails, but serves up delicious nachos, an array of burgers, and lots of sandwiches and salads. Elsa’s serves both food and drinks late into the night, meaning you can choose to stay and enjoy the ambiance, or see where the night takes you.
Casablanca (728 E. Brady St., Milwaukee; (414) 271-6000. Website)
Serving food until midnight every night, serving drinks until 2am
For a complete departure from your typical late night pub food, try something Middle Eastern. Casablanca has most of the Middle Eastern food the typical eater is familiar with, such as hummus and shish kebab, but many things you’ve probably never tried, like Stuffed Grape Leaves and Baba Ghannoj. On Friday nights, there is a live belly dancing show at 8:30pm and 10:30pm, making this an East Side hangout like no other.
Rustico (223 N. Water St., Milwaukee; (414) 220-9933, Website)
Open until midnight Monday-Thursday, 1:30am on Friday/Saturday and 10pm on Sunday)
Too often, late night cravings will lead you to a mediocre delivery pizza. If you can’t live without Italian food after hours, then Rustico in the Historic Third Ward is the place to go. They offer deluxe and delicious pizzas, with toppings like goat cheese and eggplant available, and a hearty selection of pasta and paninis. (Pro tip: if you are that set on phoning in your pizza order, they deliver)
Ouzo Café (776 N. Milwaukee St., Milwaukee; (414) 272-6896, Website)
Open until 10pm on weeknights, 3:30am on Friday and Saturday, closed on Sunday
This downtown Milwaukee eatery serves up Greek favorites like lamb and kebab, and even fried octopus as an appetizer. While you enjoy your late night food, why not try Ouzo’s namesake either on the rocks or as a shot?
