Atlanta does not have barbecue named after the city like Kansas City, but southerners love barbecue. During the 1996 Olympics, Jeff Foxworthy did a comedy song stating we would not have an Olympic flame that big without a pig on it and a guy saying “dang good barbecue.” That song exemplifies how much we love barbecue in Atlanta.

The owner of this place has the southern nickname ‘Bubba.” He has achieved national recognition by winning professional barbecue cooking contests. Their pride of being the best in contests is reflected with great taste at their joints in Woodstock and Jasper. Ribs can be ordered dry or with sauce and the flavor of everything is truly award winning.
The varieties of side items plus excellent tasting meats make this place spectacular. I picked up great catering for a party from here after another barbecue place did not provide what was promised. Slopes has four nice locations with quality food and atmosphere.
Swallow At The Hollow
This unique place in Roswell has special vegetarian options of pit-cooked portabella and to die for fried green tomatoes. It is best to make reservations because they fill up quickly and have live entertainment on occasion. Not only is the barbecue excellent, the atmosphere is really special.
Williamson Bros. Bar-B-Q
You can smell the great barbecue flavor here before entering the restaurant. This place probably has the best selection of menu items. In addition, their variety of sauces is special and can be purchased to take home. The burnt ends I ordered with the chopped barbecue there is the best I have ever had.
