The buzz over Guardians of the Galaxy is building here in the United States as the August 1 arrival moves ever closer. Millions have viewed the United States trailers, but one of the trailers shown in the UK is somewhat different. The new trailer gives us some additional details about the movie that the American trailer did not. Here are few new pieces of information that we learn from the UK trailer.
1. Less Music
One of the first things that one notices when seeing the UK trailer is that it is missing much of the loud music that dominates the Unites States trailer. The overwhelming sound of Blue Swede’s Hooked on a Feeling rolls through the end of the trailer. The song plays for at least 20 seconds and rolls through the casting credits.
2. Nova Prime speaks about the Guardians
Nova Prime (Glen Close) is the head of an intergalactic police force that helps to protect the galaxy. The Nova Squad is sworn to protect and stop threats. The problem is that a new threat has come to the galaxy. Nova Prime describes the Guardians of the Galaxy as two thugs (Groot and Rocket Raccoon), a thief (Star-Lord), a murderer (Gamora) and a maniac (Drax the Destroyer).
3. An Unstoppable Threat
One of the Nova Squad states that there is an unstoppable threat coming into the galaxy. It can be assumed from the remainder of the trailer that the threat is an invasion of the Kree. The Kree are an alien race with blue skin and extremely war like. We see two major characters from the Kree, Ronan the Accuser and Nebula.
4. Guardians go to Nowhere
One section shows the Guardians of the Galaxy approaching what appears to be a giant mechanical head in space. The location is near the edge of the galaxy and is actually the head of a dead Celestial. The Celestials are a race of giant mechanical beings that consist of energy encased in mechanic shells. These beings stand over 1000 to 2000 feet tall. The empty head becomes the base of operations for the Guardians. The location is called Nowhere. It is interesting that the scene with Nowhere is immediately followed by the phrase all heroes start somewhere.
5. Rocket likes Bombs
Near the end of the trailer, Star-Lord asks Rocket about an item he is working on. Rocket informs him that it is a bomb and Star-Lord reacts with some panic. Rocket mutters under his breath, “You suck the joy out of everything.”
