Cleanse diets are useful in purging the body of toxins. Our food today contains many things that aren’t the best for us. Many dieters think that giving our body a break from these toxins can be a very healthy addition to our diets. Here is what I found out about them from my own personal experience.
1. Cleansing can be expensive.
One might think that a diet that encourages limited food and drink would be cheaper than your regular eating habits. That may be true if you consume a lot of delicacies or eat at restaurants often. For most people, a cleanse diet can be more expensive than their regular eating. If you perform a juice cleanse, you need to buy high quantities of fresh vegetables and fruits. You would be surprised at how many whole pieces of fruit and vegetables it takes to make a simple 16 ounce juice. Some people visit their doctor to make sure they are healthy enough for a cleanse diet and other seek specialist’s advice on the matter. These visits can cost hundreds of dollars at a time.
2. Cleansing can take lots of willpower.
Many people love to enjoy foods that are full of sugars, salts, or fats. Almost all of these foods aren’t a part of a cleanse diet. You will most likely have many intense cravings for foods that you aren’t allowed to eat during your cleanse. In my experience, these cravings are hardest to defeat in the second day of the cleanse.
3. Cleanses are not just for overweight people.
While most cleanse diets will cause you to lose weight, the primary focus is on cleansing the body of toxins. People who are already fit usually use cleanse diets in an effort to clear up their skin or increase energy levels. In my experience, cleanse diets are better for these type of things compared to weight loss because I often gain my weight back in the weeks following a cleanse.
4. Your energy levels will surprise you.
You will feel great at first, but after a few missed meals of cheeseburgers and snacks of sundaes, you will likely experience a crash. If you overcome the energy lows, you will also experience energy highs. You will find that you don’t need your soda and fries to provide energy.
5. You will experience a roller coaster of feelings.
During your cleanse, you will experience many different emotions. You will be tired, angry, and crabby at times but you will also feel happy, clean, accomplished, and proud. Sometimes you will feel like nothing at all. Changes in emotions are like cravings during a fast. They come and go all the time.
