Seeing a professional wrestling event live can change the way you feel about the sport. Watching it on television you are unable to experience the full magnitude of what you are seeing. Unlike other sports you are watching live, this is scripted physical competition where one mistake can have dire consequences. Through every match, every show, and every Pay Per View these are the five moments every wrestling fan should have the chance to see in person.
The first time you see a title change it can be great. A less prestigious mid-card title or the WWE Title, having the opportunity to be in the same arena as a new champion is crowned can make the event all the more memorable. The biggest determining factor could be whether or not you wanted the new champion to hold the belt. A wrestler you root for will make you stand up and cheer while one you constantly complain about online may cause you to throw out some jeers.
A true momentum changing moment for any wrestler is when they go from playing the good guy to the bad guy or vice versa. It can happen quickly, it can happen slowly, it can happen in a match, or through words. There are many ways to turn a wrestler from hero to villain and it is one of those moments everyone should have the chance to witness. Not all will have the same result as when Hulk Hogan turned, but surely many will have an effect on the future of the company, at least in the short-term.
When a new wrestler enters the ring for his first match he may end up being the next Shawn Michaels or the next Brooklyn Brawler. Sometimes the debut match has a lot of hype with vignettes airing up until they enter the ring for the first time. More often than not though, a wrestler’s debut match may not be so memorable. No matter what happens in their career, you can always say you saw someone’s first match in the company.
Exciting Gimmick Match
Whatever your favorite gimmick match is hopefully you get to see it live at some point. The WWE has tried to make many gimmick matches exclusive to different Pay Per Views. Recently they have gone away from this idea though and at any Pay Per View you may have a chance to see a ladder match, Last Man Standing, or Hell in a Cell. Royal Rumble is one Pay Per View you will always guarantee yourself to see one particular match, the Battle Royale the event takes its name from.
Good Wrestlemania or bad, every wrestling fan should give it their best effort to attend the biggest event of the year. Fortunately the WWE tries to change the geographical location as often as they can to give all fans an easier trip. Tickets may be more expensive and harder to obtain, but it’s very worth it to say you were there at least once.
