Summer is upon us and many viewers are contemplating what is going to happen with their favorite on-screen couples. Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, and fanfiction are all popular ways to express love for a couple, and to share in your love with fellow shippers. Here are some of the fan favorite couples viewers want to see happen.
Regina and Robin from Once Upon a Time have been a fan favorite since the flashback episode where Tinkerbell showed Regina she could find happiness again. Their romance started out sweet and showed a lot of promise, but was dealt a huge blow in the season finale when Emma brought Marian back from the Enchanted Forest. Their future is unclear now that Robin’s wife is back from the dead. Regina’s character has developed greatly over the past three seasons and fans want to see her get the happiness she deserves.
Oliver and Felicity from Arrow have been tiptoeing around each other all season. It is pretty obvious to fans that there are some sort of feelings between the pair with Felicity’s often humorous and nervous babbling to Oliver when in danger, and Oliver going against his vow to not kill to save Felicity. And of course, Oliver’s heartbreaking line earlier in season 2 where he tells Felicity that he could never be with someone he truly cared for because of putting them in danger. Felicity and Oliver have a fun, quirky, and honest friendship and they both believe in each other, pushing the other to continue fighting for the greater good even when the odds are stacked against them. Fans did get a mind-blowing scene in the season finale where Oliver declared his love for Felicity, but as it turned out, it was only for show to help take down Slade. Only the show runners know what is in store for this pairing, but Olicity is a fan favorite and viewers are not so patiently waiting for them to get together.
Agents of Shield’s Skye and Ward started off rocky and also ended the season on a pretty rocky note. Ward took Skye in under his wing as she worked to become a member of the Shield team. Ward stuck up for Skye on several different occasions and believed in her when she really needed someone to. The pair had a lot of witty one-liners, but ultimately, that wasn’t enough. Skye did earn her spot on the team, but we found out later this season that Agent Ward was working against the Shield team. After putting members of the team in jeopardy and killing other agents, Ward was detained and is now a prisoner. Fans suspect he will be back for season 2, but the likely hood of a Skyeward pairing anytime soon is unlikely.
The 100’s Bellamy and Clarke have both taken on a leadership role for the 100 prisoners sent down to the ground. Bellamy is more military and Clarke is more of a humanitarian, causing them to occasionally butt heads as they disagree on the proper course of action for the group. As the season continues we see Clarke and Bellamy begin to respect and trust each other as they both work towards the common goal of protecting their group from the grounders. Bellamy helps teach Clarke how to shoot a gun and protect herself, while Clarke brings out a better side to Bellamy by calling him out and holding him accountable for his actions. The pair slowly develop a friendship. Clarke even goes so far as to make sure Bellamy is exonerated for his crimes on the ARC, telling the chancellor that Bellamy is the reason the group is still alive. Perhaps one of the biggest draws to this couple is the way they look at each other. Romance isn’t exactly on the horizon for the pair, but they are definitely moving forward in the right direction.
Klaus and Caroline are still one of the most popular ships on The Vampire Diaries even though the pair only shared one episode this past season. Although, the episode was filled with the normal witty banter between the pair and the long awaited for kiss, and hot hybrid sex, fans still want more from them. The ship was dealt a serious setback at the end of last season when Klaus left for New Orleans due to the start up of the spin off series, The Originals. This couple has been dancing around each other since midway through season 3 of Diaries. Klaus challenges Caroline to see the bigger picture and embrace her vampirism, encouraging her to grow. Caroline sees through Klaus’ antics like no one else does. She understands the reasons he does the things he does, but still calls him out and holds him accountable for the actions. She sees beneath his facade and into the human soul he still has. Although this pairing constantly has twitter trends, started an online petition, and is very vocal on other social media outlets, the writers have decided not to pursue this pairing at this time, leaving many frustrated fans. With lines like “It was all for you” and “He’s your first love, I intend to be your last” fans can only hope that the pair will get more scenes sometime in the future.
