Five Great Metro Detroit Breakfast Spots

by yak max

A great breakfast can set the tone for an equally great day. Whether you have it at 8 a.m. or blend it in with lunch, breakfast is more than a meal. It’s an experience. Detroit is home to countless restaurants that offer a unique feel, top-notch food and stellar service. Here are a few breakfast spots around the Motor City that you don’t want to miss:

The Hudson Café

This place is a given for any Detroit breakfast fanatic. The Hudson Café offers creative delicacies for those with some time to spend, as well as people on the run. Running late? Stop by and check out its freshly baked goods and specialty coffees. If you aren’t in a hurry, sit down next to the fireplace and enjoy the Hudson Cafe’s calming environment. Graham Cracker Crusted French Toast and the Baja Cali Omelet are just a couple of the many mouthwatering menu items you’ll find there.

Good Girls Go To Paris Crepes

Located on Woodward just north of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Good Girls Go To Paris is a local favorite. Looking for something hearty to start your day? Try the Ann, which has a delicious blend of egg, boursin cheese, red pepper, mushrooms and spring mix. If your sweet tooth is craving attention, keep it healthy and tasty with the Cindy – a combination of sweetened cottage cheese and your choice of fruit. With so many delicious options, you can’t go wrong.

Honest John’s

Honest John’s is located in Detroit’s Cass Corridor. Considering that Honest John’s is actually a bar, some may be surprised to learn that it’s also renowned for its breakfast offerings. It offers tasty and hearty options, like the smothered hash, that are both quick and affordable. Detroit contains many hidden gems – be assured that this is one of them.

The Original Pancake House

Ah, the Original Pancake House in Grosse Pointe Woods. For this one, we’re stepping just outside the limits of Detroit to see one of the many fine breakfast spots in the metro area. A restaurant that’s not specific to metro Detroit, the Original Pancake House can be found in several places throughout the U.S. One of its signature items is the Apple Pancake – a huge pancake smothered in sautéed apples and cinnamon sugar. If you find yourself traveling along Mack Avenue, make sure you stop by.

Cafe Musé

Last on our list, but certainly not least, is Cafe Musé in Royal Oak. Another metro area hotspot, Cafe Musé has a classy and inspirational take on breakfast. Dishes like its Vanilla Bean Waffle with Fresh Fruit and Whipped Cream make it stand above the competition. The food is carefully crafted, and it’s truly a must for any breakfast connoisseur.
