Wouldn’t it be awesome if you didn’t have to rely on exercise to burn fat, but actually ate food that did that itself? There actually are foods that do that! Here are my top five fat burning foods:
There are numerous different kinds of canned tuna available, but if you were to get tuna canned in just water, you’d have a delicious and spreadable food that was not just good for you, but actually actively burns fat. It also provides a great source of protein and several vitamins. One concern to keep in mind, however, is that some sources indicate that tuna during pregnancy can increase mercury levels in the fetus, though not to dangerous levels. It’s best to consult your healthcare provider if you’re pregnant before eating tuna.
Apples are both portable, and delicious. They also burn fat! Naturally, dipping them in caramel or chocolate will negate the effect, but eating plain apple slices is an excellent way to have a to-go food, or a food that you can easily toss in your lunch box before heading out the door in the morning. For those that aren’t apple aficionados, there are an outstanding variety of apples out there. From ones that taste like apple flavored sugar, to sour ones reminiscent of the kind of sour you’d find in the kids candy stash.
I’ll note not all energy bars are created equal. However, some do have the ability to burn fat, or at the very least help you to burn fat without having to head out to the gym. These often include the plainer varieties, with an oatmeal base, however be sure to look at the nutritional facts on the bars. You should be shooting for 200 calories or less, and low to no fat. They should all have zero trans-fat, but it never hurts to check that either. Assuming you can find something in that range, regardless of the flavor, you should be good to go.
100% Whole Wheat Bread
It’s not often realized, but whole wheat bread, when at 100%, actually causes more fat to be burned while eating than it contains. Couple this with, for instance, the tuna from above, and you have yourself quite the fat burning sandwich. Toasting doesn’t add any fat either, and coupled with a well-chosen butter alternative, your breakfast is also made.
100% Whole Wheat Pasta
Whoever told you that trying to lose weight meant cutting out pasta was sorely mistaken Not only can you eat whole wheat pasta, but coupled with a pure tomato sauce you can even have spaghetti or other varieties of your favorite pasta. Whole grain pasta is generally located right next to regular pasta, however if you’re finding it hard to find in your local market you may want to try the health food section.
