The following is a list of the five best foods for men to eat that will burn fat and help prevent men from getting fat. I can personally attest to the fat burning qualities of most of these foods, and I can also say that most of these foods are delicious to eat.
Five Best Fat Burning Foods for Men
High Protein Foods Like Lean Meats
The human body has to use more energy to digest high protein foods like lean meats than it uses to digest carbohydrates or fat. The more protein one eats, the harder the body has to work to digest all the protein and the harder the body works the more fat it will burn.
The skinniest I’ve ever been as an adult was over the two years when I ate a very high protein diet. That’s because my body was constantly working hard to digest all the protein which kept me lean and prevented my body from building up any fat.
I gave up the very high protein diet because I run up to five miles almost everyday, and I could always taste and smell ammonia after the runs. The body creates ammonia as a result of protein metabolism. If you do not have carbohydrates in your system, the body burns protein for fuel which creates the ammonia taste and smell.
Eating fish with high omega-3 fatty acid levels, like tuna and salmon, lowers the level of leptin in the body. Leptin is a hormone, and the more leptin people have in their bodies the more likely they are to store fat and have slow metabolisms.
Studies have shown that people who eat fish routinely tend to have much lower levels of leptin in the body and much faster metabolisms than people who don’t eat fish. The faster your metabolism, the mosre fat you will burn.
Green tea contains a compound called EGCG which causes the brain and nervous system to run faster, which accelerates the burning of calories and fats by the body. Green tea also contains caffeine, but at lower levels than coffee does.
Caffeine speeds up the heart rate, which also causes the body to burn calories and fats at higher levels. The combination of EGCG and caffeine found in green tea can really help the body to burn calories and fat by speeding up the heart rate and causing the brain and nervous system to run faster.
Studies have found that people who consume green tea three times daily burn an extra 80 calories a day. That might not sound like a lot, but over the course of a year that adds up to almost 30,000 extra calories being burned.
Hot Peppers that Contain Capsaicin
Capsaicin is an active component found in chili peppers that causes the body to burn calories and fat. By speeding up the heart rate and metabolism, capsaicin has been found by researchers to actively cause the body to burn calories and fat at a faster than normal rate when consumed with meals.
Hot peppers like jalapenos, habaneros, and cayennes (my favorite) all contain capsaicin. In fact, the hotter the pepper, the more capsaicin it contains and the more fat you will likely burn off by consuming the hot pepper. I like to sprinkle cayenne pepper on many of my foods like eggs, meats, and I even put some in my tuna fish sandwiches.
As an added benefit for men, consumption of capsaicin is correlated with lower levels of prostate cancer.
While grapefruit itself does not actually burn fat in the body, the delicious fruit does lower insulin levels in the body. Lower insulin levels turn down the body’s cravings for food and also somewhat prevents the body from storing sugars as fat.
Both reactions by the body to grapefruit will help to prevent fat buildup in the body. So while grapefruit itself does not necessarily burn fat in the body, its effects on the body will prevent fat buildup.
