In an era when fans demand more from pro wrestlers, both in the ring and on the mic, WWE superstar Wade Barrett has managed to get over more than most have. Despite portraying a heel, Barrett always elicits cheers when he delivers bad news to wrestling fans. Of course, Barrett’s bad news is just a storyline. However, given how poorly things are going in the WWE, Barrett has a wealth of material from which to choose if he wants to shoot on bad news to the crowd.
Take a closer look at five bad news lines Wade Barrett should deliver about the WWE.
“The talent is so bad in the WWE right now, even a midget can win here!”
In recent weeks, the pint-sized El Torito has defeated Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater of 3MB. I can’t even begin to fathom how any normal-sized wrestler can recover from being buried in this fashion. Actually, Wade Barrett should not deliver this bad news. Otherwise, he may be the next wrestler forced to job to El Torito.
“NBC got hosed in the new television deal because the best show, NXT, is on the WWE Network!”
Much has been made of the WWE’s new television deal with NBCUniversal. Although the deal is a sizeable increase in revenue for the WWE, many experts expected a more profitable arrangement for the company. However, Wade Barrett knows what wrestling fans are learning every day. NXT is much better than Raw and Smackdown.
“Our heels are so boring, we have to put Vladimir Putin’s face on the Titantron to draw heat!”
There’s bad news on how the WWE develops heels these days. First, become a babyface. Second, don’t get over, which makes the fans boo you. Third, turn heel now that everyone hates you (see Batista). On second thought, I’m not sure if this bad news from Wade Barrett would be correct because Putin’s face just makes me laugh.
“WWE stock is so cheap, you can buy it at the concession stand!”
Ever since the bad news of the new television deal and the low number of WWE Network subscribers broke, the value of WWE stock has fallen faster than Zack Ryder’s status on the main roster. In fact, the price of a Wade Barrett Bad News t-shirt at a live event is much higher than the price of a share of WWE stock at this time.
“Vince McMahon is so depressed, he’s forgotten to tell Michael Cole to plug the WWE App for two months!”
It must be hard for Vince McMahon to stay focused on the company’s creative direction when he’s losing $350 million of net worth in one day. He certainly can’t be worried about free stuff like the WWE App. Remember when Wade Barrett would get bad news such as wrestling fans would choose his next opponent by voting on the WWE App?
