Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash: Product Review

by yak max

Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash has been on the market for over a decade, but many people have no idea about its existence. I first heard about FIT from my parrot family back in the days when I bred parrots. They all loved the product and used it before preparing fresh fruits and vegetables for their parrots, as part of their regular diet.

Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash

Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash is a 100% natural product. Fit is also a certified vegan product and also certified Kosher. Fit has been tested vs. cleaning fresh produce with regular water and found to remove 98% more toxins, wax and other residues than washing produce with plain water. When you think of this fact, it is quite alarming to know just how much crud is on the fresh product we buy from grocery stores.

Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash Products

Fit Fruit & Vegetable Wash can be purchased in three different ways. It is available in a basic 12 oz. spray bottle, a 32 oz. refill bottle or the combo kit which contains a large clear soaking bowl, a green wash bowl similar to a strainer, a spray wash bottle of Fit and two refill bottles of Fit. The combo retails for approximately $30. The spray bottle of Fit cost around $4.99 a bottle. I have not seen any refill bottles available in my area. However, I did find all products on Amazon.com and you can purchase the refill bottle there for two for $45.

How To Use

You will first of all want to read the booklet that comes with all Fit products to see which fruits and vegetables are best washed with Fit and which ones should be soaked. This is just a recommendation and you can choose the method of cleaning that works best for you.

When you use the spray method, you should spray your produce, rub vigorously and rinse. If you have a fruit like apples that are coated with wax, run warm water over the apple before spraying with Fit to soften up the wax and make removal easier.

For soaking you will need to use a refill bottle so you are not constantly refilling your spray bottle. This is the perfect method for cleaning small fruits like plums and berries. Pour Fit into your clear bowl, put fruit in green basket and lower into the Fit solution. You will want to stir up your produce or turn it over so all produce gets a bath. After soaking for several minutes, remove green basket with handle and rinse your fruit. If you still detect wax on fruit, you may need to do a second bath treatment.

My Experience with Fit

I have used Fit myself for both my parrot’s food and our family’s food. I was very surprised the first time I used Fit at just how nasty fresh produce from our local grocery stores was. The evidence left in the soaker bowls after soaking produce is your proof that this product works. Fit may add a bit of expense to your household budget, but eating clean food and removing pesticides, dirt, grime, etc. is worth it to me.
