When planning a cruise, it can all be a little overwhelming. This is a great trip to take, but you don’t want to forget anything and want to make sure that you get the most out of your money. Here are some great tips for first time cruisers to get the most out of their vacation.
We have cruised twice now, and I did a lot of research before we went. There are a few things I was told to take I didn’t need and others I was glad that I had with me. One thing you don’t want to forget is a highlighter. You might think that sounds crazy, but you will use it every single day to highlight what events you don’t want to miss on the papers that they leave in your room.
Don’t be afraid to try new things on the cruise ship. You will have opportunities to take dance classes, go to shows and play a lot of games. These are great ways to have fun on the ship but it takes being social. Remember you will never see these people again and just enjoy yourself.
Make sure that you pack plenty of clothes. You can get them cleaned on the ship but it is a bit expensive. Most cruises have a formal night and a few dress codes so check them online before packing. Take along sun screen, medicine and anything that you might need on the trip. You can’t get very much on the ship and if you can the cost is a lot more than you want to spend. You can also bring along one bottle of wine or champagne per person. This can save you some money on the trip.
Once your cruise is booked you will want to start looking into your excursions. These are the things you can do on the days you are at shore. If you book them ahead of time at home, you can research them and read reviews. If you wait until on the ship, you might feel rushed and just pick something random to do. These are a lot of fun and you will want to make sure you do something you will never forget. My favorites have been swimming with dolphins and zip lining.
If you plan to use your cell phone on the trip, call your provider and set up an International calling plan. It is really expensive to call from the ship and will cost you more on your cell phone if you don’t set up a plan ahead of time. That being said only call home once in a while and enjoy your trip. It is time to put the cell phone down.
You will have a great time on your cruise and don’t stress out about it just have a great time. Don’t be afraid to ask on board if you have problems. They are more than willing to help you and that is what they get paid to do. Don’t sweat the small stuff and have a vacation you will always remember.
