In the sweltering summer heat of the DFW in North Texas, the 4th of July is just around the corner and everyone, and by that I mean literally everyone, is gearing up for a party. North Texas has a long-standing tradition of lighting up the skies for the festivities and this year promises no exceptions to this trend. They put on a show like mardi gras for the sky, with spectacular fireworks, good food, and plenty of clean family entertainment, Texas style! So without further delay, let me give the heads-up for a few events happening in your area.
Fair Park Fourth
The City of Dallas, in concert with Fair Park and the State Fair of Texas invite all who love a good fireworks show, free music, and a whole lot of fun to the Independence Day celebration in Fair Park. Starting at 7 p.m., there will be music by Razzmajazz Dixieland Band kicking off the celebrations, with water rides, games, concerts, and concessions within the State Fair of Texas Midway. Admission to the Midway is $5 for those participating in the Dallas 7/4″ race that morning. 26 exhilarating rides will be available, cost may vary.
Irving Independence Day Parade
The award-winning 4th of July parade in the Heritage District along Irving Blvd. and Second St. organizes schools, churches to participate with the townsfolk, featuring marching bands and groups, floats, and more. Immediately following the parade, the community gathers in Heritage Park for a free reception. Enjoy live music, free watermelon, and plenty of fun activities for the children 10 a.m. to noon.
Mansfield’s Rockin’ 4th of July
Break out the lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen, and cash for food and drinks, because Mansfield is rocking the town this Fourth of July. Join All Funk Radio Show for a fun-filled day in the sun featuring free family activities, including game truck, bounce houses, ice slide, and smash car, with military appreciation ceremonies, and fireworks from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on the 4th of July, 2014. Oh, and be sure to bring insect repellent.
4th of July Fireworks Show in Downtown Fort Worth
Last but not least, the crown jewel of our list. With over 60,000 people attending annually, the Downtown Fort Worth 4th of July Fireworks Show is the largest, longest-running fireworks show in North Texas. General admission and most of the activities, including bounce houses, face painting, pony rides, miniature golf, levee slide and the water slide are free. VIP treatment is $25 per person, preferred parking $10 and overflow parking $5. VIP tickets in clued the following amenities: 5 VIP tents, shaded seating, cash bar, and VIP bathrooms. Music and shows are free. Better still, they accept cash and all major credit cards. So head to downtown to watch the spectacle in person!
