A changeling is a fairy that has replaced a human child. Some people may not believe in the existence of these fairy creatures. In fact they are thought of as imaginary or fictional creatures but I believe anything is possible to exist under the sun and the moon.
I’ve never had a run in with a changeling but always thought of them in a curious light. If these beings are in our reality how do we protect ourselves from them and where do they come from?
Adults are not in danger of being replaced by changelings but babies and small children are. The most common ways to protect your children from changelings are putting a key next to the infant or putting an article of clothing belonging to the father over the crib of the sleeping infant.
Mothers who have just given birth may be tired and overwhelmed, when this happens the exchange can be made. A pair of men’s clothing over the crib of the sleeping baby can prevent the exchange; the clothing does not have to be the father’s clothing in this case.
Changelings come from British folklore but I think every story stems from a bit of truth and perhaps it is more than just folklore. Tales from Britain tell of women coming to check on their babies only to find some nasty fairy in it’s place. Sometimes the stolen child would be replaced with enchanted wood called stock or fetch. The wood overtime would get sick and die and instead of a corpse, it’ll be a pile of rotting wood.
The fey folk (or fairy folk) have been known to steal babies and replace them with their own as a act of punishment for the humans; perhaps the humans did something to upset one of them. They have been known to eat the child they have stolen or raise them and use them as their slaves. They are devilish little creatures and have sometimes stolen babies to strengthen one of their own by using the human mother’s milk or getting rid of an unattractive or not useful fairy. Sometimes but in rare cases the fey folk will steal a human child to experience the love of a child and what it really feels like to have the light and energy of a human child living amongst them.
Fairies are like humans in a way; you have the good and the bad. The good ones won’t bother you and don’t even want to be seen. The bad ones will tempt you, curse you, steal from you, be mischievous, and even kill you. This is a big world with a lot of secrets.
Say what you may, everyone is entitled to their own opinions but there have been reports of these things happening and sightings. To learn more you can of course google.com it and you can visit the site below.
