Okay, so its not exactly the season yet. But it is back in the news! Since I began playing fantasy football two years ago on Yahoo! I have become a little bit addicted to the experience. I am too cheap to actually pay for it, so I play in the free leagues. And today, when I opened my browser to Yahoo! Sports, there it was… a headline announcing to all those who are addicted such as I am that our favorite fantasy sport is back. Of course, the headline is aimed at recruiting new players, I’ll admit that. But the trill is back! Possibilities abound! Fame is just around the proverbial corner!
So now, I can feel free to begin reading the reports of who is ranked where and for what reasons. Now I can stop sneaking around and looking at fantasy football sites and instead, look at them openly because, after all, it’s back out openly on the web again! There they are off to the right, little sidebar announcements that the time is now to sign up for fantasy football! My adrenalin is starting to flow!
As a former middle school football coach, I love the game. Every summer while on school break, I would begin to get anxious, usually around July 1st. I could barely wait for the opening of the school’s weight room for players to begin summer workouts and the gathering of coaches and the beginnings of discussions of this or that player for this or that position. Our hearts would beat football!
Now, no longer a coach, I find myself more and more pulled to the fantasy football site. Eagerly anticipating the draft, the trades, and the games! My first year, I came in third place in my league. But last year wasn’t a good one for me in Yahoo Public 32141, however I am sure this next one will be better! Go Blazers!!
