What is Included: The box comes with one epilator, an AC adapter / charger, a small cleaning brush, a perfect angle guide, instruction guide, one year warranty card and a carrying case.
The Epilator: The Epilady Legend Fourth Generation EP-810-33A is mostly white in color with red accents. The red areas are raised slightly and have a grippy type feel to make it easier to hold and more comfortable to use. The actual epilator portion consists of rows of rotating tweezers. As they roll they constantly open and close. If held correctly the hairs will get caught in the tweezers and removed.
The unit is rechargeable and holds a charge for two weeks or more for occasional use. I use it every couple days for a couple minutes. I do not use it on my legs which would be more time consuming so it might need to be charged more often is you are using it on your legs.
It has two speeds. Fast and Really Fast. I wish it had a slower speed too.
Perfect Angle Guide: It comes with a Guide that you can swap out for the regular guard which goes around the tweezing roll. The guide makes it easy to figure out how to hold the epilator. It might be helpful for legs but I do not find it necessary for my uses.
AC Adapter Charger: The little adapter has a long enough cord for charging on a bathroom counter but it will not stretch across the room. It is designed for charging but you can use it while it is plugged in.
Cleaning Brush: The small brush included is for brushing hairs or debris from the tweezers. You can also remove the tweezing part and clean it as needed.
Carrying Case: The case in my opinion is sort of a silly add on. It is a thick leather feel pouch that is way bigger than the unit. It does not have a zipper or anything so frankly I doubt I will ever use it. When I am traveling I can just put it in a sock or something like that which will work much better.
Warranty and Instructions: The instructions are adequate but there is a learning curve and you will learn through trial and area what works best for you. The one year warranty is nice but I doubt you will need it, since my old one is still going after 6 yrs. (just much slower)
How well the it Works
On Fine Hair and Course Hair: I think that it works best on finer hair. Some course hairs will be stubborn and need to be tweezed.
Pain Level: I find that using an epilator is painful in some areas and in others it hardly bothers me. I have a few darker hairs on my upper lip and have tried to use it there but there are so many fine hairs and the skin is so sensitive that it is extremely painful.
On my chin it barely bothers me. Underarms are a little more sensitive but not bad at all. It hurts a bit on the legs but not enough to prevent me from doing it. I have used it on the sides of my bikini area and find that tolerable as well.
Speed: I find that the Epilady works best on the slower speed for me. If you have very fine hair the fast speed will work too but I find the slower speed to be more comfortable. I sort of wish it had an even slower speed because I actually like it best when it is starting to lose power. I just find it more comfortable to use and that it grabs hairs more effectively at a slower speed. That way it pulls them instead of yanking them. Also at the slower speed their is less chance of breaking the hair off rather than pulling it out.
On Legs: I did try using my old one on my legs a couple times and I was not impressed. It took forever to do and I could not get all the hairs. I ended up having to tweeze some that I could not get and the worst part was that when they started growing back in, I had tons of ingrown hairs that got all irritated and red. The next time I tried it I was careful to exfoliate on a regular basis and I did not have as much trouble with the ingrown hairs, but it takes so long to do it and then you have to wait for the hair to grow in a bit to do it again that I just decided that shaving was easier. I do use it on my upper leg where I do not have as much hair and they are finer so its not a big deal to let it grow in a bit before using it again.
Under Arms: I have used this a few times under my arms and it was surprisingly not that bad. I thought it would hurt like heck but it was comfortable to use and actually did a decent job. Just make sure to stretch your arm all the way up so that your skin is tight.
Face: I bought this primarily for the hairs on my chin. I love using it here because it hardly hurts and is very effective. Plus it gets rid of the hairs for awhile. I probably use it every third day because hairs grow in at different rates. It only takes a few seconds to get rid of them and only occasionally will I find a stubborn one that has to be tweezed.
I tried it on my upper lip and few times and it works great but it’s just way to sensitive for me.
Bikini Area: I have used this on the sides of my bikini area where it meets my upper leg. I do not find it too painful but then again I am not removing from the more sensitive areas. I like that it removes the hair for a long time so if I am going on a vacation and do it before I go, I do not have to worry about redoing it while on vacation for a week.
