Doterra Living

by yak max

My Doterra experience began while suffering with multiple digestive issues. Needing relief, I scheduled an appointment with a Gastroenterologist. I described to him my daily battle, which consisted of bloating, pain, vomiting, and the embarrassment I felt because of my appearance. I have never been pregnant, but would look like it by the time late afternoon hit. Every morning started with a ritual of putting a shirt on and taking it off because I knew how I would look later in the day. Ultimately, a shirt that was loose around my stomach was chosen. Upon hearing my battles of pain and struggles with appearance, he prescribed antibiotics, believing that I had an overabundance of bacteria in my intestines. Relief washed over me, trusting that this would be the solution. The result, however, was vomiting, dehydration and my energy all but disappearing. I returned to the doctor with the disappointing news. He then suggested a specific probiotic that the pharmacy orders in special. The probiotic proved to be successful in replacing the bacteria in my intestines and my nausea subsided. Unfortunately my bloating and pain continued to persist.

Seeing my anguish, a good friend suggested trying Doterra’s DigestZen oil, as well as TerraZyme. DigestZen is a mixture of “ginger, peppermint, tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise oils”. It can be taken internally or rubbed on your abdomen. I chose to use it both topically and internally. TerraZyme is a digestive enzyme that my stomach needed for healthy biochemical functions. I decided to take three before every meal. Though my troubles didn’t disappear, they were substantially minimized with the combination of these two Doterra products.

Hours of my life became dedicated to researching my symptoms. Finally, I stumbled upon a website called www.celiaccentral.org. After reading the symptoms provided on the website, I came to realize that my problems could possibly be due to an intolerance to gluten. Doctor’s appointments had become tiresome at this point; so I decided to conduct an at-home allergy test. The following four days, I consumed nothing but bananas and water. Bananas are the preferred fruit because the peels encasing them prevent any chance of a cross contamination of gluten. My symptoms receded and I felt better than I had in years. On the fifth day, it was time to put my body to the real test. Reluctantly eating a piece of bread, full of gluten, all of my pain and physical turmoil came flooding back. Problem solved, I had been suffering from a gluten allergy.

Since the oils had helped me, I consulted my friend that had introduced me to Doterra. Due to the length of time I had gone undiagnosed, my body was holding on to gluten proteins. My friend suggested some solutions on purging my body of those proteins. By this time, however, my upper intestines had become damaged and inflamed; which had caused the intestine to attack itself. After hearing the suggested treatments, I chose a cleanse. I immediately ordered GX Assist along with the PB Assist that Doterra offers.

The GX Assist is a combination of essential oils and caprylic acid to help support a healthy digestive tract. It achieves this by creating an unfriendly environment for pathogens, which can cause digestive upset. I began with taking the GX Assist for ten consecutive days, then I reestablished the good bacteria with the PB Assist. The first few days of the cleanse I would feel feverish and cramps knotted my stomach; so I used the DigestZen to counteract the cramping. Clearly my body was working hard to purge itself of unwanted invaders, in turn, I took the symptoms as a good sign. Keeping myself sufficiently hydrated, my energy skyrocketed after the initial days of the cleanse. Continuing the cleanse for the full ten days, my upper intestines settled down and I was no longer experiencing the bloating, pain or nausea. Next, I began the PB Assist, but also began dreading the return of my symptoms. Admittedly, I did not have much faith that I had finally found a permanent solution; but still I remained hesitantly optimistic. When a week had passed successfully with no nausea, pain or bloating, I was confident the problem was, at long last, under control.

Continuing the use of the aforementioned essential oils, conducting a cleanse every six months and being cautious of ingesting any gluten, my symptoms have yet to return. An emotional and physical weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I now sell oils and hold classes on replacing prescribed and over-the-counter medications with essential oils. I remain an absolute believer in Doterra and their products.
