Does an apple a day, really keep the doctor away? I’m pretty sure most, if not all of you, have heard the expression, “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!” but does it really? In the February of 1866, “Notes and Queries” published an issue with the phrase: “Eat an apple on going to bed, and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.” Over 100 years later, this phrase is still popular in its many different forms. What really makes the apple, help keep the doctor away?
According to most doctors today, and recently shown studies, if everyone over the age of 50 ate an apple a day, it would drastically effect the amount of heart attacks and vascular infections. There are five ingredients of the apple that can really have positive affects on your health!
Pectin – Pectin is know for lowering High blood pressure and helping keep your digestive in a healthy state. Apples should be your number one source of pectin!

Boron – Boron, an ingredient found in abundance in apples. It supports strong bones, and a healthy brain!
Phytonutrients – This is something that apples are very rich in a variety of phytonutrients. Vitamin A and vitamin E, and carotene. These nutrients help reduce the risk of getting a heart disease or the chance of getting asthma and diabetes.
Something you probably don’t know is that apples also act as a tooth brush! Helping keep your teeth clean and and free of plaque build up. Apples are beneficial for more than just their delicious flavor, but could potentially reduce your chances of various diseases and other negative affects on the body.
