I had not felt just right for about two weeks; in fact I felt like I had been on a seven-day drunk. The room was always moving every time I stood up. My husband said he wanted me to go to the hospital to have my blood pressure checked. I have a blood pressure monitor so we took my blood pressure here at home. It was high; 149/120 so I checked a couple of websites I use all the time to see what I can do to bring my blood pressure down. I have an appointment to see my doctor in a week; however, I did text her and reported to her my blood pressure tests (we took it three times). I am not a doctor or even a nurse so I can only tell you what I am doing to lower my blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high call or e-mail your doctor. We have “My Basset Connection” so we can go online to email our doctors.
To bring blood pressure down:
Here is the first thing I did to lower my blood pressure. I looked up a reliable website https://www.webmd.com and the other one I use a lot is, https://www.forbes.com it is very good.
Walking is a good exercise to do to lower your blood pressure. I started back walking on Monday. I walk at a good pace; a mile in 20 minutes. The idea is to get the heart rate up. I took my blood pressure before and after walking.
Foods to eat:
I have not had to change much as food goes. Whole grain cereals or a good multi-grain bread for breakfast. Four ounces of beet juice will lower the blood pressure in 24 hours. https://www.womenshealth.com
Salt is the number one thing to stay away from. You can be getting it in a number of things; canned foods have a lot of salt (sodium) so read your labels. I try to buy only frozen foods because they will not have the salt in them.
Seeds, mixed nuts, lean beef, chicken, turkey and beans are all very good to lower the blood pressure.
If you are having dizzy spells on a daily bases call your doctor. I also suggest buying a blood pressure monitor. They do not cost a lot. I paid $39.00 for the one we have. In two days I have lowered my blood pressure to 129/90 and a heart rate of 98. You can do it too.
