For the most part, when people think of Easter baskets, the first thing that comes to mind are little kids running around in search of eggs. Well, believe it or not, Easter baskets are not just for the little ones. They are also for the older children as well. Even though making an Easter basket for teens can be challenging, it definitely can be done. It just requires putting some thought into what items are age appropriate and not too old or too young for them. Here are some helpful ideas on how to create an Easter basket for teens:
Purchase Easter Basket
It is best to purchase inexpensive baskets at thrift stores, garage, or yard sales. You could also use a straw hat or plain wicker baskets that you may already have at home. Once you have your basket, it is time to decorate. When decorating your Easter baskets, it is always a great idea to get your teens to help craft these fun baskets.
Items for Decorating Easter Basket
All you will need to decorate your basket is glue, fabric strips, and cord. For one basket, you will need 4 yards of cotton piping cord, 3/4 yards of printed colored fabric, hot glue gun, glue sticks, and needle and thread. Once you decorate, don’t forget to fill each basket full of goodies.
Decorating Your Easter Basket
The first thing that you should do is hot-glue the first fabric strip to one end of the cord. Then, wrap it around the cord at an angle continuously until the cord is covered completely. Coil the cord tightly around itself, sewing or hot-gluing as you go. Continue until you have a 2-inch spiral or until you have reached your desired base size. Stack the next round above the base, gluing or sewing, as you go along until you have reached the height that you desire. You may want to add tiny handles from leftover fabric strips.
