It was announced by Chris Owen, the English Community Manager of PlayStation Europe that although the recent news stated that the Destiny beta will be available for all PlayStation Plus members but actually only for those who pre-order Destiny beta. This is according to PlayStation Lifestyle. Before this update, it was announced that every member of PlayStation Plus will have access to Destiny beta but this is incorrect since members will have to preorder the game to have access to it.
This news update might have made some people upset but others happy about it. Those who had access to Destiny Alpha should definitely be happy about this since this is the next game in the sequence.
Although this news update was published on the European PlayStation blog, there is a very good chance that it is also true for North American players as well. Also, last week Bungie talked about the latest Destiny Alpha stats which were very good. There were over six million games played during this phase. Some of the stats include:
- · 6,461,871 Player games played
- · 149,522,313 Primary weapon kills
- · 21,782,610 Secondary weapon kills
- · 4,002,737 Heavy weapon kills
- · Much more here!
Since many players were not able to take part during this phase, this is not a bad set of numbers. Also, with beta being open to even more people, those who pre-order that is, imagine what the stats will be for that phase of the game!
Also, if you want to be sure about the game before you play it, you can check out a preview here to see what the fuss is all about.
Players can get their PlayStation Plus codes online. PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription where players can receive access to many different games. PlayStation Plus was released by the PlayStation Network during E3 in 2010. There was already plans for this paid subscription plan being talked about the year before they released it. Not only can subscribers have access to many different games, they can also play demos to make sure they will like the game before they buy it and these demos as well as game and system software updates automatically download for the PlayStation 3 console.
Subscribers also have access to a free subscription to Qore. Those who would like to subscribe to PlayStation Plus have the option to choose from a three month or a one-year subscription to it.
IGN states that Destiny beta will also be released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 in late July. This also requires a Gold membership and for gamers to preorder the game to have access to it.
There are some rumors flying around that there will be a lot of exclusive content for PlayStation players but beta will only be kept from Xbox One and 360 until the fall of 2015.
Also, Bungie states that there are some big bucks going into Destiny just by Activision. $500 million worth of big bucks that is. This is how much Activision believes in the game. IGN recently had an interview with Activision asking how they had come up with the idea for the game and they stated they want to stay as far away from anything like Halo as much as possible.
Sony will have access to Destiny beta on July 17th. This means they will have at least two weeks of a jump start to Microsoft having access to the game.
