Darkseid. Just the name of the most evil, diabolical and menacing villain to ever grace the pages of DC comics is enough to send shivers down one’s spine. For those that may not be familiar with the Lord of Apokolips, you can get caught up here at the DC Comics Database. For those that are already acquainted with the merciless tyrant, his introduction into the ‘Injustice; Gods Among Us’ mobile game makes plain that nothing will ever be the same. The latest challenge from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Brothers, who develop and publish the game, consists of five levels. Complete all five levels and you are awarded the gold level Darkseid character that you can add to your team roster. If you are ready to completely dominate ‘Injustice; Gods Among Us’, read on, the news gets much better.
The Darkseid Challenge
First and foremost, in order to obtain this powerful character you have to beat the challenge. The challenge consists of five levels of battles where upon completion of each level you are granted an item that belongs to Darkseid; Helmet, Chest Plate, Omega Logo, Boots and Belt in that order. Win each of those items and you are awarded a gold level Darkseid card that allows you to add him to your team roster. Each level of the challenge has its own specifications for how it is to be played. Here is the complete requirements list for the Darkseid challenge levels:
- Challenge 1 – Only Bronze Level Characters Can Be Used
- Challenge 2 – Cyborg or Regime Cyborg Must be on Team
- Challenge 3 – Only Bronze or Silver Characters
- Challenge 4 – Catwoman or Regime Catwoman Must be on Team
- Challenge 5 – Black Adam must be on Team
The challenge can be replayed again in ‘expert’ mode and a third time in ‘Nightmare’ mode. As the names suggest, the difficulty level becomes much greater, but the reward is a duplicate Darkseid card that you can apply to upgrade your existing Darkseid character.
The Darkseid Character
Up until this point, the usual sequence of events for a typical challenge match have all been rather ‘normal’. What quickly drives us off into the world of ‘not-normal’ and the thing that greatly changes the landscape of this exciting fighting game is the raw power that Darkseid wields right out of the gate. Darkseid is a top-tier, gold character that comes with 1155 damage and with 1320 health. No other character comes so well equipped. Obviously the numbers only go up from there as the character is upgraded through battle experience. Darkseid also comes with three special attacks that he can use to completely dominate his opponent; Omega Blast, Fires of Apokolips and I Am Many Things. Not content with employing his own powerful attacks, the Darkseid special ability allows Darkseid to ‘Empower Minions’ which gives all bronze level characters on his team a 300% gain in health and damage.
I’ve been playing the iOS version of ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ on my iPhone5 since it first debuted in April of 2013 and I cannot think of a new character that I felt I needed to own more than Darkseid. His raw power, special attacks and special ability makes him the ultimate opponent and has just turned this game upside down in terms of who rules. For now Darkseid rules and that is as it should be.
