I have been thinking a lot about happiness. There comes a time for everyone in their lives to reflect on where they are and what makes them happy. This time is different for everyone, and naturally happiness is not a one size fits all kind of concept. When this point of figuring out our own happiness comes, we take into account the things we have done, said and the people involved in our lives, what once made us happy may not make us AS happy but we don’t necessarily call it quits. We adjust accordingly. We all are looking for the answer to happiness, whether it’s relationship and learning to appreciate the other person more, get into better shape or stop smoking…I think that the most important thing to remember is to always be happy with yourself and the choices you make and the people you surround yourself with.
Nobody is happy 100% of the time, life makes sure of that on a regular basis with the curve balls it throws at all of us. Everyone has their own version of happiness, and just because it does not line up with the happiness we create for ourselves doesn’t mean its wrong or somehow not worth it. Everyone deserves their own picture perfect version of happy.. We should always strive to be better than we were yesterday and to keep ourselves as happy as possible, no matter what the reason. Keeping people in our lives because they add to the happiness we feel, and make us want to better for ourselves and to make life in general a beautiful place. Happiness is a choice, and it is not difficult to just decide to be in a good mood and just BE in a good mood.
My happiness comes in the form of an adorable 4 year old, my loving & supportive boyfriend who gives me new reasons to fall in love every day, my family, and books. So, in an attempt to make myself happy and always try to be better for myself and those who make my happiness possible. I have not had a smooth path cut out for me. I have fallen on my face, struck out and even regretting a thing or two. I envy those who say they have no regrets, to be so sure of ones choices and life plan that it is almost impossible for them to regret anything in their life. Mistakes and regret are not the same thing, EVERYONE makes mistakes and I am a firm believer in forgiving someone, including forgiving yourself. Perfection does not exist and pretending that it does is the first step in making sure you are never happy with anything or anyone, especially yourself. Some say mistakes make us who we are, and whether or not that is true is based on the individual. However, happiness is universal. Maybe not the things or people that make us happy, but we all have our own happiness in our own way.
I believe, wholeheartedly that happiness is a choice. It is unrealistic to believe that you are going to be 100% happy every minute of everyday, but if we can all figure out the moments and the people that make us feel the most extreme, deep and honest happiness as possible we must do everything in our power to duplicate those moments and hold those people a little tighter.
1. Find someone or something you love with every ounce of who you are and give it everything you have.
2. Accept that things are not always going to work out the way they should, and remember that it isn’t always a bad thing.
3. The worst thing that happens to you could be the best thing for you, IF you don’t let it get the best of you.
4. Never apologize for what you like or what you say. If you mean it, stand by it and don’t let anyone change your mind.
5. Forgive. When you forgive someone for hurting you it takes the power away from them and gives it to you. Forgive those you love, forgive yourself and forgive ESPECIALLY when someone does not deserve it because that is when they need it the most.
6. When something is broken. Even if it is a relationship, always fix it. Never throw it away without trying everything in your power to fix it first.
7. Don’t be afraid to show your vulnerability, your fear or your love. That’s as real as it gets.
8. Own your shit. Good and bad. Nobody can make you feel bad about it if you don’t let them.
9.Embrace your feelings, good bad and indifferent.
10.Take pictures of everything. If it makes you happy, sad, confused. If it makes you feel any kind of emotion. Capture it.
11.Don’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. Worry only about what you can control.
12.Think of every day as a new start and a new chance to be happy.
13.Throw away the bad things that make you feel like shit. You don’t need a material object to remind you of pain.
14.Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t matter. NOBODY!
15.Never let anyone make you feel bad or make you feel crazy for the way you love.
16.Love to the point of madness, always. Real, ridiculous, consuming maddening and crazy stupid love is the only kind worth having.
17.It is possible to love someone completely without losing sight of yourself and the things you love.
18.Have never ending passion for the things that make you feel alive
19.Don’t feel envy of anyone. You’re someones idea of perfection
20.Wear hoodies and chucks to dinner.
21.Be yourself. It’s as simple & complicated as that.
22.Be classy & respect yourself. If you don’t, nobody else will and you can’t expect them to.
23.Be your own kind of beautiful. Don’t let society tell you you’re not beautiful.
24.When you love someone, love them unconditionally.
25.Write letters. REAL love letters. Don’t be afraid of your words. Be personal.
26.Say what you mean, mean what you say.
27.If you have the power to make someone smile, use it.
28.Don’t hide your true self, you never know who will love you because of it…
