The time has come for the politicians to take another vacation. It is also time to finally get to the pressing business that is at hand. But, the Congressional business must wait; it must take a back seat to Congressional pleasure. Tax dollars at work? More like tax dollars on a continuous vacation. It seems that every time a situation occurs, congress must go on vacation and everything must come to a tooth jarring halt until they return to session.
What happens when Congress return from their vacation? There is more of the same finger pointing and separation from cohesiveness. One will blame the other for nothing getting done when both are at fault. At the present, the Republicans is most at fault because the Democrats are in the executive office. Never mind who has the majority in Congress, it’s about getting to the highest office and making whoever is there look bad. It doesn’t matter what is going on or how well the person in the White House did, its make the person and the regime take the blame for whatever bad situation is going on at home or in the world.
One way to do this is to slow down the Congressional work more. For them to do that is to go on vacation. How many vacations and breaks does Congress take each year? The people get one short vacation a year, if they are lucky to have a job that provides that or they can afford to take a vacation. Congress will get theirs and get paid for it too. Average person, who can afford a vacation, normally don’t get paid for their time off. Yet Congress does and yet the work does not get done when they are not on vacation and is supposedly well rested.
There is Russia taking over a country and thumbing their nose at us. There is the missing flight MH370 and they need our resources and help to find the plane. We have domestic situations that need our constant vigilance and things happen really fast. However, everything must wait until Congress returns.
There is another thing, domestically, that the clock is ticking down on and that is the Debt Ceiling. Something has to be done and done soon. We have gone through this before and that is one time too many. The greatest nation in the world having these petty disagreements shouldn’t be happening. We do not need to go into default and if Congress does not settle its differences, we will. Whose side are they on? Our enemies (am I thinking of Russia) are cheering our indecision and we are playing right into their hands. The hell with diplomacy, call a frog a frog.
Congress is elected and paid to care for the people as well as do the people’s will. Congress spends more time trying to get re-elected, vacations and giving speeches than actually doing something. Then, the time that is left is spent on bickering against the other party for no other reason than it’s the other party. Actually, if vacations were taken away, there would still be a quagmire of nothing getting done. It is said that we have a do nothing Congress and, actually, they are right.
