Chicago may be cold all winter, but it makes up for the torture by bringing great musical talent year-round. Summertime is even better for finding your favorite talent on stage, and 2014 promises some big names. Unfortunately some shows such as Lorde’s is already sold out. Here are some of Chicago’s best concerts for 2014!
Now that Wrigley Field has started doing concerts in the summers, it has become one of the most anticipated concert announcements. Wrigley has set the bar high considering previous acts included Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, and Paul McCartney, so it made sense when they announced Billy Joel would be the act for 2014. Not only is he an amazing pianist, but he is a composer and a singer-songwriter. He will be at Wrigley Field on Friday, July 18th, at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available and start at $39.
Queen and Adam Lambert
One of the best rock bands, Queen, and an American Idol show stopper, Adam Lambert, are teaming up to bring North America a great show. The tour will be making a stop in Chicago on June 19, at 7:30 p.m., at the United Center. There are still tickets available, and they start at $55. VIP packages through Ticketmaster start at $175.
For all the fans of Lady Gaga’s Artpop album, she will be stopping in Chicago for The Artwave: The Artpop Ball. After canceling her Chicago show earlier this year due to her hip injury, she has rescheduled for July 11, at 7:30 p.m., at the United Center. Tickets to the show start at $35.
The Swon Brothers
Country music fans will be thrilled to know that The Swon Brothers will be making their way through Chicago on May 9th, at 8:30 p.m. Joes’s Bar on Weed Street will be hosting the country duo, and if you caught a glimpse of their style on “The Voice”, then you already know they have a traditional country sound. Tickets are $18.
Grammy winning indie rock Band, Arcade Fire, will be at Chicago’s United Center for two nights. Arcade Fire has found success in every album release, and they were even given the opportunity to score the recent film “Her” to much success. They’ve already kicked off their Reflektor Tour, and will stun fans on August 26, and 27th, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, and can be found for as low as $40.
She is still touring, and this legendary R&B artist will blow you away with her live performance. Diana Ross will be at The Chicago Theatre on April 19th, at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale, and although they are a little pricey starting at $116, it’s because she’s a legend.
